The hardest part of fishing

Work is for those who don't know how to fish!

Being unemployed for the first itme in my life, this has become my motto. It is great fishing during the week days without the weekend crowds. My wife enjoys seing me on weekends now, not just when the weather is bad.

If I was unemployed, my wife would hate the sight of me! She would change the bank account and I would be S.O.L.! The way it is now, she just gripes at me for buying fishing stuff. Then when I say that I want to go fishing she really raises the roof! All you ever do is go fishing blah, blah, blah, I'm sure you guys hear it too!

10-4 BarryG!

klipsinker...are you independently wealthy and unemployed? Or do you have a very rich wife?
Because I'll tell you this...the wife isn't going to have you around much longer if all you do is fish around all day! You may as well start fishing real good, 'cause it may be the only meal you get! LMFAO!!

No, I am not independently wealthy, and my wife isn't loaded. I have worked and paid taxes for 35 years without ever drawing a day of unemployment. My wife said to take some time off and enjoy it, so who am I to argue! My kid is grown and so we don't have a lot of expenses. My meager unemployment is enouugh to get us by with her income. The little woman is a great person who lets me enjoy my fishing, as long as I spend my quality time with her too. I have a great wife, and plan to keep her.

Leaving the lake knowing that the only thing you have to look forward to is another day week or whatever of the same old grind before you can get back to the one thing in life that brings the world together and makes sense. I guess I’m with the fisherman point of view. Really what’s to love more than fishing, and if it’s that important take it/them to the lake with you. For me the value of life is how much time you can spend on the water and the people that you get to spend that time with!

You guys need to find the right wife, my wife and me go fishing every sat. and come back on mondays. (we work tuesday through fiday) Even though she out fishes me most the time it is still great. Couldnt ask for a better wife. Before fishing every weekend we raced motocross together. AND TO TOP IT ALL SHE IS BEAUTIFUL!

Sounds like you are living out a Miller commercial.

The High Life

Well it seems great in the beginning, and it might stay that way as long as you don't have kids. But kid's, a wonderful blessing, will change your life and everything around you. It's not a bad thing, it's just...different

lol too funny!! In my case i made sure the bride to be was well aware of my fishing habits so i never hear any bickering as long as im working and paying bills we are good to go. We switch off with the kids, pretty much let them decide what they want to do as far as going fishing or staying home. Wifey gets the bug to go catten with me on the red about once, maybe twice a year. She really wants to find someone to join the cats incredible tourny with since my dad and i have been in it since its induction. That toury is the highlite of my summer...luv them cats!!

I thought my wife was beginning to understand my desire to fish when she would help me get things ready to go to the cabin with the boys. Sometime later Mr. Boyfriend surfaced and we parted. Like the saying goes....

My wife said if I go fishing one more time she is gonna leave me...boy am I going to miss her!

Sorry guys, got you all beat! My wife also doubles as my fishin buddy and often out-fishes me. It was even her idea to get a resort on the Rainy River, just off LOW.

Guests are always asking "how did you talk her into moving up here?" Truth is, I couldn't talk her out of it!

And she can cook!

This one's a keeper!

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
