MINNEAPOLIS -- Third baseman Mike Lamb and the Minnesota Twins agreed Friday to a $6.6 million, two-year contract with an option for 2010.

Lamb is likely to get a chance to play regularly for the Twins, looking for more offense at third base. Nick Punto played 108 games at third this season and hit only .210 with one home run and 25 RBIs in 472 at-bats.

The 32-year-old Lamb hit .289 with 11 homers and 40 RBIs in 124 games with the Houston Astros this season. He has a career batting average of .281 with 68 homers and 313 RBIs.

Not really much to get excited about with this signing but it is a definate upgrade from Punto. Twins will have almost an entire new infield this spring with the exeption of Morneau. Should be interesting.

Definite upgrade to ANYONE we've had playing 3-bag for the last few years. When you look at the 3B FA market, there isn't much out there. He is one of the best that was left.

He gets on base at a good clip, something the Twins are dying for and hits for good power, look at his sluggin %.

With a full year of AB's, he could put up a .280/.360/.450 line. Might challenge to hit 20 HRs too. Good pickup when you look at what was available.

twins need to keep santana till the trade deadline, and if they are out, they will trade him. but the twins have a good chance to win the division with our pitching with lirano coming back this year. we just need to get some offense, and they are making the changes to help in this. I think it should be a good year for the twins. laugh.gif

I can't say that I share your optimism. We lost Silva...nothing great...but throws a lot of innings and is a solid middle of the rotation type....we have no idea what Liriano will be like..... we traded Garza.... I have no problem with the Twins waiting to see how the season shakes out because right now they can't get what they want, but I can't say I think we will even contend for the Division. Detroit is loaded and the Indians are solid. I, myself am prepared for a long season....I hope you are right though grin.gif

Problem is, he has a no-trade clause and there has been specualtion that he will not waive it at the trade deadline. He would most likely wait until he hits free agency, at which time he will become the highest paid pitcher in MLB history. If we are going to trade him, it needs to be before spring training. Otherwise, shell out a few dollars and lets roll with Johan opening day starter in the new stadium. If we keep him all year and don't resign him, then Billy Smith is the same fool as the one that just quit.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
