Twins sign Adam Everett

Thursday, December 13th, 2007 The Twins have signed former Houston Astros shortstop Adam Everett, a team official confirmed to the Star Tribune on Thursday.

The signing was originally reported by FoxSports and La Velle had the news confirmed. The Twins look for Everett to be their starting shortstop. Scouts rave about his defense. The Astros non-tendered Everett following their trade Wednesday for Baltimore shortstop Miguel Tejada.

Everett, who turns 31 on Feb. 2, batted .232 with a .281 on-base percentage and .318 slugging percentage in 66 games with the Astros last season and missed three months with a broken leg. His career batting average is .248

It is too downgrading offensively, and at a major clip.

A .281 OBP, that has to be one of the worst in the league. Same with his .318 slugging. Speaking of slug, this guy sounds like one. I would rather give Ploufe or Casilla or someone a shot than this garbage. Juan Castro is a better player than Everett. He better just be signed to a minor league deal or be used as a defensive replacement, because if this is what we are gonna roll with at SS, then there is no hope for them.

Our only hope is that he was just brought in to compete for a job or that he will be used off the bench late in games. You sure think we could have picked someone up cheaper than 2.8 mill though. That leads me to believe they want to start the season with him as the starting SS. crazy.gif

I think Harris will play 2B. That would still leave Casilla and little Nicky with nowhere to play though. Hopefully Casilla grows up alot this year and grabs the job. If he can get on base at a .350 or better clip, slot him in as a leadoff hitter. Once on the bases, he is exciting to watch.

bartlet was tough to let go in my opinion, but it was probally what the devil rays wanted to get young. the twins do not loose much for offense, and gain defense. who knows, a different team, and new chemistry, he may do very good for the twins.

we still need a DH!!!!!!!

We will be just fine at DH with Kubel. He hit pretty well the last couple months of the season.

kubel is average or below average at best. we need a hitter that will hit 30+ homers and 100+ rbi's.

remember we just lost a 30 100 guy in hunter.

KUBEL WILL RAKE THIS YEAR. MARK IT DOWN!!

Now this signing makes a little more sense. Lamb is by all accounts a below average fielder, Everett one of the best in the game. Plus they know each other. Should work out okay.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
