0 Surface Tension
Lightning knocked out my Stanley chain drive which I never had a problem with. Replaced it with a Chamberlain chain drive. I think a door in good working order is probably more important. I bought what was on sale and something that had the a remote light switch and two remotes. I piggybacked an outdoor light to it. 0 computerboy
I have a Wayne Dalton chain drive for an aluminum door. It does the job, but it sounds like the house is about to fall down when I open/close the garage. If I had to do it over again, I'd definitely get a belt drive because they are the most quiet and least maintenance. You will eventually need to replace the belt, but you're talking years down the road (10 years or more). You can get a fully loaded Chamberlain Whisper Drive for under $200. Good Luck!
