Guest
Here in my town in upstate NY. The best gas price in town is 1.57. What they do here is lower the price on Sunday to 1.52. We are at the mercy of Big Oil. The ice fishing season is too short here. I'm going to enjoy it while I can. Peace Out.
Captain B.R.K
I would never be able to clear this question with anyone. With the fish houses, vexilars (FL-8 and then the FL-18), augers, rods, lures, on and on.....I would be in debut over my head! I LOVE TO FISH AND ITS THE THRILL OF NEVER KNOWING WHAT YOU MAY CATCH...that is WHAT KEEPS ME GOING. That and a paycheck!
Cyberfish
><}}}("< ---Muskybuck, yeah those old toyotas could run for ever. Why do we hardly ever see them anymore? Answer: RUST They made great motors, cheap bodies though.
Guest
Fishing is only as expensive as you make it. If you want MEAT, and don't want to pay alot, get a license, 20$ rod, and walk to your nearest lake and keep your limit of sunfish and whatever else ya might get. Easy, cheap meat. You don't pay for meat on those trips we all make...you are paying for quality fishing otherwise not available around here. Thats how I look at it
Gissert
Muskybuck -Your mention of diesel was interesting. I don't understand why diesel is not more commonly used I think it would be a great option in half ton pickups and SUVs. I drive a Dodge 2500 with the Cummins diesel. From about March until mid October, diesel fuel was $1.29 a gallon +/- 3 cents. Come October, it jumped to $1.49, as winter blended fuel and competetion with the home heating market came into play. I like that the price stays stable for the most part.I get 19 mpg on summer fuel, and 18 on winter blend.
HideHunter
You guys are going about it all wrong. Instead of buying all that expensive equipment, hire a guide. On my recent trip to your fair state my expenses were as such:850 m. (both ways) @ $1.41per gal. $79.9072 hr fishing license $19.90Motel $49 per night $98Guide fees $125 per day - 2 days$250( I won't count the stop at Owatana, even though I should)Dinner for self, guide and wife$45Drinks for same $50Total $542.80Though we caught a lot of fish, the second day I decided to keep a few perch for a fry at home; app. 4#approximate cost per pound.. $135.70Just a side note: My truck cost app. $8.57 per poundLet's not mention this to my wife, okay? Guest
Gissert your a man after my own heart I love my diesel would not trade for anything else. I get 20-25 mpg with my ford. The only thing is letting it sit on the ice for 10 hours make sure you have good batteries, mine has always started but you are $rewed if it dont. I know were you are coming from. I farm and that hike in diesel in oct has to do with the farmers as well it always goes up just before we go into the fields we use 14000 gallons so a few cents adds up. We buy bulk and store in when its cheap. Wish you guys had the same option in town. Put in a 500 gallon tank in your driveway and there would not be that jumping around in price.GOODLUCK FISH ARE BITING EVEN AT $100 a #
muskybuck
wcmnwalleye, Did you have to do anything special to get that good mileage like put a different chip in for the computer or did it come from the factory that way. My f250 4x4 diesel gets about 18 mpg.
Guest
You probably have a turbo on yours. I took mine off dont need that much power. And the chance of blowing a head gasket is more with one on. Or you could take it in to shop and have them turn down the pump. I pull a 24ft cattle trailer and have all the power i need. Gotta love them FORDS

WallEYES
T-BONE To put in perspective...gas is cheap compared to milk at 2.90 a gallon, orange juice at 3.50 a gallon depending on brand, and to top it off one 16 oz bottle of auafina pure spring water at 1.09 and at a gallon makes 4.36 a gallon you guys get my drift....life is goot
