triple AAAA twins

it seems the twins of late have been another minor leuage team. we sign the best prospects, then when they become great, we let them leave. teams like the yankees and sox must love teams like the twins. if anyone becomes good or great, they will get them.

baseball needs a salary cap big time. of course guys like steinbrenner will be 100 percent against that. mad.gif

I think the Twins are doing the right things so far this off-season. Torii Hunter is NOT worth the 90 mil. the Angels shelled out for him. He is an awesome centerfielder and has only had one good year at the plate. That year just happened to be his free-agent year. The Twins were counting on him having just an "average" year at the plate coupled with his usual month long stay on the disabled list. If this would have happened he would still have been a Twin and probably signed the 3 year deal. At 90 mil for 5 years you have to tip your hat to him and wish him the best. Santana is just plain unsignable for the Twins. There is no way the Twins or 90% of the other major leaugue teams are going to be able to afford his asking price--upwards of 135-150 million. That's why there is only the Yanks/Boston/Angels and Met's even in trade talks with the Twins. Trade him and be done with it. In doing so we are going to be receiving some young "stars" in return. I'm excited about the Twins future and back them 100% in what they are doing right now.

I agree with you Zepman. Its good to hear some level headed thinking out of someone.

It is what it is, and the twins try to make the best out of what they have. Although I do think they could sign a few free agents once and a while.

If Torii starts to swing like he did when J Jones was with the Twins, he'll stink. If he continues to be selective like the last two years with Mauer and Morneau, he'll be fine. Trouble is he is now teammates with someone who swings more freely than JJ in Pedro Guerrero.
