Recommended Posts

Talked to Timmy last night him and kyle were at the fleet store looking for more goodies for the tournement. They went to Marcum and he told me that they were really busy there and it is a nice place they even meet the president of marcum.Tim was all jacked up and was ready to fish he told me that he met two of the power sticks Ben and Jeff Wright they told Tim that the fishing was good but hard to get fish with any size. They also told them that there was about 12 to 13 inches of SLUSH to walk through crazy.gif Tim and kyle had to buy Knee boots for that excursion.

Boys were on the ice today and having no problems finding crappie . . .problem is they are all the same size. Kyle found some perch but the tournament is bluegill and crappie. No bluegills found today and they are going to concentrate on finding them tomorrow. Got off thephone as they were brewskying and then shopping again for goodies. Timmie says it is an ice fisherman's paradise . . .every store has ice fishing stuff!!

Just got off the phone with Timmy. They found some gills today, sounds like two year classes and it gonna be a matter of upgrading to the nicer ones. Lots of small crapies too...

He was more excited about all the gear the stores have than the fishing I think...

What can I say that hasn't been said first and foremost I want to thank you guys for the encouragement and excitement in your calls supporting us, we felt the love and I thankyou...

We would have liked to get back out there with Kevin and Rich again as we fished right next to them on day 1, we probably could have pushed out a bit more on day 2 and if we could have scratched the same weight we would have been up to 39th but that's how it goes. I just want to say to all of you that we could have not done it without your support. My biggest thank you goes out to Joe and Jeremy from Wisconsin they had an extra quad laying on the trailer and they were very nice to let us use it on day 1 and I thank them ever so much because it made a difference in getting there quick getting drilled and dropping at the horn blast. Day two we fished close to Bob Griffith and Mike Kuna and we just didn't pop many gills we made a couple of big moves back to some pre fishing holes and were just completely inundated with small craps. I want to extend a hug to my partner Kyle Holbritter, what a team we made we worked very hard and we slung alot of fish and the only mishap we had other than the fish bucket tipping 1/2 a bucket of water in my trap was Kyle's experience fighting his 6" lazer auger, that was exciting and Kyle was seeing stars. I would let him tell it but here is what happened I believe it was day 2 of prefishing or maybe 3 anyway we were getting ready to make a move and Kyle reached over to get his lazar out of the 1/2 drilled hole where he had left it and he tried to grab it from the side and yank it out, wrong move... The auger rubber handle end came straight out and klunked him on the nose, he was discombobulated for about 30 seconds as an image of the Northern Lights appeared grin.gif any way banged and swollen and a a pint of blood later he was back in it hunting gills and craps with me. We ate, drank, shopped and really had a fantastic time. I want to thank the City of Alexandria for hosting the event I spent over $300 christmas shopping on Friday and the small stores were very helpful. It's truly heaven up there guys I almost passed out when I got my first glance of the ice fishing display at Fleet Farm, incredible...

I manned up and did the 20 hour ride back home as I told Kyle we were on a mission and to keep the Red Bull's coming, I wasn't stopping till we got home and we rolled into Rome around 6:20 a.m. this morning. Couldn't sleep much so I unloaded the van and took care of cleaning this years first winter blast, took me about 2 hours. My wife really did a bang up job while I was gone taking care of snow...

We met a lot of great folks and revisted with some good friends. John Battistella and his partner are fantastic fishers and I want to congratulate them on there top 10 finish, way to go guys. I also want to congratulate Vikingfan and FishDaddy09 from the old ice shanty crew for placing I think 15, well done guys. Got to meet up at the Restaurant with the great Bob Horn and John Baccarella, the pleasure was all mine Bob. Dan Cox and Dave Felhoffer great people and I want to wish them well in NY this February, give em heck guys. Big JohnnyIce thank for the peanut butter parfait teeters they worked very well married up with Maki's plastics, I hope the family is healthy...I know I'm forgetting a ton of people but I want to say a special thank you to a very dear friend and new MarCum prostaff Scott Brauer from Maki Plastics, his plastics were incredible and I want to thank him personnaly for the donation of brown maki's wink.gif as they were killer all week as well as purple. Thank you so much Scott. Ice Team put on a fantastic event and the dinner afterwards was first rate, eating great ribs and drinking beer with the champs . it don't get better than that. Many pictures taken with the champs and I was so proud I really had to hold back the tears. Guys here know Kevin and Dark Cloud is right he is a fishing animal and we all knew it was just a matter of time before Rich and him did it. For the NAIFC to be New York and the showing the rest of the NY teams did all I can say is wow. Way to go guys... Kevin and Rich those rings are gorgeous and that $10,000 will come in handy I'm sure. We kept in touch with Kevin and Rich all week and we talked a bit on the long ride home. Kevin and Rich you are the National Champs and it couldn't happen to classier guys than you two to jump from 9th 1st day to 1st 2nd day show's your persistence and your natural ability. You and the rest of the NY teams all made us proud and I am thankful to have the opportunity to fish with you in the NAIFC. Ice Team did a great job they really made you feel special and I spent alot of time with Dave Genz, Smitty and Kathy it was great. I guess I'll close for now and say this... It was the the experience of a lifetime to be involved in a brotherhood of competitive fishers and the comradory was second to none. Good luck to all the teams especially the NY teams as you cowboy up for the 2008 NAIFC. Here are the pictures that I took before my battery crapped out in my camera but that 22" walleye I caught was well worth the trip alone, it was the only fish I pulled that took drag unfortunatelyconfused.gif

Thanks guys from the bottom of Team 70's heart, we tried are darndest to get her done and learned quite a bit that mobility is one of the most important factors in getting close to pulling this off, our pre fishing went extremely well and we were confident going into the first day but that's how it goes...Well enough blabbing, here are the pics...

MarCum Technologies - It was great meeting Paul, Duane, Ray John and Steve, thank you for your hospitality and I am glad you enjoyed the Bully Hill wine wink.gif
