IMO... here's the rub with the Strike-Lite-

The plastic auger flighting on the shaft is what saves the weight, but it is not that durable and ices up horribly. If you punch 20 holes sequentially, when its below 0 outside, the auger head where the blades are attached will pack so full of slush and ice you can't cut anymore holes.

Once you replace that plastic auger shaft with a regular steel Lazer shaft, you have lost your weight savings and added another $100 to the price tag. But the Strike-Lite is an awesome, awesome auger in this configuration.

We have had motor problems with ours as well, specifically the 4 stroke oil leaking into the combustion chamber.
