esox49
Just was wondering how everyone's fall food plots have been doing this year. What has worked and what has not worked? I have about 1 acre of Biologic Maximum and for some reason they are not using it this year. Last year, they were on it constantly even during the middle of the afternoon. I may try something new next year. What is working for those of you that have hunting plots?
Cooter
Have some oats the deer are keeping in check, not going crazy on it but certainly using it. Also have some rye which the cattle found to their liking enough to go through barb wire - we did a little fencing and it might grow a bit before winter, still green anyways. mnmuzzleloader
I got some secret spot stuff from Whitetail Institute, it is a mixture of some oats, rapeseed and a couple of other seeds, I planted it after labor day, the rapeseed is like 3-3.5 feet tall still really green and the deer have been in there, I have it planted next to 2/3 acre of corn, it will only get better as the rest of the corn around the area has been taken out in the last week, should be a super sweet spot for mz or late archery. I think next year I am going ot have to get camera over it and see what it visiting it.
BLACKJACK
I planted some of the Cold Weather mix from the MN Deerhunters that BLB has helped distribute and the deer are hitting it hard, it will get planted again. But they are also in the rye and any remaining clover and the Annual mix that I planted, and also the corn. The only thing thats not getting hit are the pumpkins... I expect as it gets colder, anything thats still green will get eaten down to the nubbins.
Mark Christianson
My corn is already all gone. I would have never guessed it could happen. Granted a lot was stunted due to the rainless summer. The clover has been pounded hard all the way up to last week. Every place I have clover was mowed down hard.My clover here at home is mowed down to nothing, but this last weeks freezes at night have knocked it back pretty hard. The Cold weather blend has also been hit good for us recently. Definitely going to plant more of that next year. Now if the deer would just use it when we are there. LOL

Also going to make the oat plot 3 time the size for next year. Maby then they will use it during gun season?
