Guest
When my buddy and I would go ice fishing,if things got a little slow, his black lab would occasionally retrieve frozen walleyes someone else had caught! He would usually be followed by the Catchor with a big grin on his face. Good boy Cap! Good boy!------------------DIRTBALL2
Guest
When I got my black lab 5 years ago I took him ice fishing. He retrieved a frozen speared "Pikus Interuptus" from a nearby house...It was a dandy Pike too they speared, probably weighing about 1 pound. I returned the snake and apoligized. RK
When I was growing up in the Pelican Rapids area Ray Jensen, the local conservation officer, had a little poodle that went wherever he went. While Ray was checking guys in their fishhouses, he'd let the poodle sniff around, and the thing would dig up a few 'bonus' fish buried in the snow once in a while. I think that dog busted as many people as Ray did, and I know a few locals who hated that dog...RK

Ruegs23
We live on a little lake and occasionally our dog gets onto the lake and "visits" the fisherman. Well on saturday morning we caught her coming back up to the house with a box of doughnuts! I'm not sure who lost them but our dog sure did enjoy them! Captain B.R.K
I witnessed this one a week ago. A group of guys came out with 2 dogs early in the morning and proceeded to set-up there house, etc. The dogs were roaming around and being dogs. Next thing I know I hear this huge clank on the ice and something being dragged across the ice. I flip up my trap and here came this big siberian huskie pulling a sled with gear on it, yet the sled was on it's side with gear going everywhere as this huskie was chasing these 2 other dogs. Classic! I was laughing so hard and to see the look on the huskies owners face It was worth going out that morning.
Guest
Ice Fishing Dogs... Took a little while to teach my dog that the fish I lay on the ice are NOT for his snacking purposes. PCG
Matt D
Two weeks ago, a buddy and I were fishing a couple hundred yards apart in our traps. He yelled that I should move over by him because he was really getting into the fish, so I did. About a half hour later, I realized I'd left the fish I'd caught at my original location sitting on the ice. Rather than make the slippery trip, I lined my lab up for a blind retrieve and handled her to the "downed fishy". She returned just as happy as if she'd had a duck in her mouth ... and got just as much praise. Ah, the joy of a well-trained retriever!------------------Best FISHES,Matt

fivebucks
A number of years ago when I lived in Alaska I was fishing the banks of the Kenai River and my dog came back with a guys sandwich from down the river. I got a good laugh and bought the guy lunch.

SportFishin'
I to have had my Chocolate come back with other peoples fish. She will usually go roaming around & visit other anglers then snatch up their fish if they are laying out on the ice & B-Line it back to the shack for the drop with her tail just a waggin. Now if I could only teach her to get those flags when it's -20 out there?LaterChris
huskminn
I have been the victim in this situation. One winter at a buddy's cabin.....we came in off the ice to grill a steak in the afternoon before heading out for the evening bite. The four T-bones were on the open charcoal grill on the patio and we were busy prepping stuff inside. I walked to the sliding glass door to have a peek at the steaks and the grill stood there, devoid of steaks. I asked if anyone had brought the steaks inside while I wasn't paying attention and one of my buddies said, "No...why are you asking us this?"We ran outside and the neighbor's St. Bernard was laying in the snow, crunching away on the last remaining bone. At first we were [PoorWordUsage]ed, but we decided that any dog who would pull four steaks off a burning grill deserved some respect. He sure did look happy, too! CorynTracySellHomes
Last winter much to my surprise, I came home from work to fin 16 nice crappies flopping on my deck. I sat there with a puzzled look on my face when off the lake came my limping dog "Buck", with a still flopping crappie in his mouth! The only thing I could figure was that he got a little too close to an ice fishermans sorel boots when he got that crappie! (I was trying to figure out what I would say to the game warden when he stopped by! "Ahh, Cory, you appear to be over your limit!" "Sorry officer, I did not catch them, they are my dogs!") Always wondered what would have happened!
