Who has the best price on these?

The only reason I said honda, is because I did not know that there were that many other brands that you guys use. I checked oout N.T. in waite park and they wanted $999.99 for the honda. I am open to any ideas. Thanks in advance.

I would check at or around at local pawn shops!

I purchased my Craftsman 3500watt Jan 3rd or 4th 2000 for dirt cheap. I held out untill Y2K was proven a bogus deal and pawn shops were over run with them! Worked out great!

I think I paided $250 for a $900 generator at pawn shop. The thing was brand new!

Genny runs great and is quite!

I know the Honda lovers won't like to hear this, but Coleman has a 4 stroke generator with similar output using a Robin Subaru engine. You'll see these used at most construction sites for water pumps and generators. And it's pretty darn quiet at around half the price ($400.00). Also, it's available at the big orange stores scattered across the state. Worth a look, anyways.

Apples and Oranges, The coleman does not have a pure sine inverter like honda, it is cleaner power than what your house can provide, coleman does not have a low oil shutoff like Honda, and Honda's noise dB is 53-59 @ low throttle and 60dB at full throttle, coleman runs at 71 dB, a normal conversation is about 60 dB. Plus honda has the eco-throttle that's much more efficient. Bottom-Line, you get what you pay for!

BTW, I got one shipped to my door from wise sales for $869.

True, but at 2 oranges for the price of your apple, there are going to be people that look to this as an alternative. I guess I kinda highjacked this a little; he was asking about a Honda, so He probably wants a Honda. I want one too, but can't justify the price right now. Either way, it's better than a 10-hp worksite generator on the ice! smile.gif

At 151 Lbs. I'd need a team of oxen to pull that out on the ice tongue.gif, no thanks, I'll settle for a compact & lightweight EU Honda any day of the week. That coleman runs about 70dB, which is twice as loud as the Honda EU, and the coleman doesn't have a pure sine inverter built in.

I would like to say thanks to all you guys for helping with my post. I just bought the honda eu2000i at l&m fleet in park rapids for $809. They matched the price that Grand Rapids had on theirs. Filled out a Credit card app and received another $50 dollars off. They are fantastic people to deal with.

Gotta love Gander Mountain!

In this week's Outdoor news there was an ad for a Honda EU2000i for $819. So, for the heck of it, I decided to see if GM would price match, even though I bought it over 30 days ago and the ad was for a place in Grand Rapids.... Well, they did!

    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
    • Sketti...  not out of a jar either!
    • Lol yeah I watched that
