DEI / RCR Engines...

What a great day they had...4 of 7 motors blow, and Harvick was down a cylinder on his car when the race finished. That killed Truex in the Chase, and has killed Dale Jr. all year.

It has been a problem all year.

Makes you wonder if they are trying to push the RPM's a little to much or trying for a little more horsepower. It seems to me the one's that I've really seen them on is when they are running up front or really racing someone hard. confused.gif

In this case, it could have been the new R07 Chevy motors and running on plate tracks where they haven't been much if at all yet. Hendrick and Gibbs were running the SB2 traditional motors and RCR/DEI was running the new motor. They also kept saying how the COT's made the restricted motors run more RPM's than they ever had (which they should have realized during the test) and maybe RCR/DEI's plate motors just weren't built to turn those kind of RPM's. Hard to tell, but the plate track motors are a different beast than their normal motors and the RCR motors are different than the DEI's that Jr. was blowing up...

What should be even more alarming to RCR is the fact they've been blowing the SB2 engines also, prior to the RO7's of this race. Something a little more widespread than just a particular engine revision it seems.

Jr will be sooo much better off at Hendrick. Gordon might not be the top dog there anymore when the rocket arrives.

Not gonna be that easy. Jeff just got his 80th win. 80- to 16. Not saying that he has not had a team advantage but still if you think Jeff is going to roll over and pack it in after championship #5 this year......forget about it. grin.gif

I think they even said they had this problem in testing and thought they had it fixed? confused.gif You are right that it was just DEI motor's that were blowing up on Jr. prior to this weekend. Looks like DEI is now jinxing RCR...

Did I hear correct??? Next season the only motor used by the Chevy / GM camp will be these new R07 motors? I thought Childress said something to that effect, and basically said they just as well start using them now then.
