DeanoB
picked this tank for 50 cents at a garage sale, wondering if anyone can help me identify this fitting, I need to get a new connector that connects to the end of fuel line Thanks
0 IFallsRon
It looks like a two-line Johnson tank fitting. One line for air pressure and one for fuel.
0 Surface Tension
Which is a rare tank and worth a lot more then you paid for to a guy needing the old pressure tank.
0 DeanoB
i just saw 50 cent on the metal tank and the new plastic are $15+. Rare meaning the fitting is going to cost me huge $ or someone may want to buy or trade because it doesn't fit with my 2 hole johnson fitting because there is like a 3rd metal post
0 IFallsRon
Rare because Johnson/Evinrude upgraded their fuel delivery system over 30 years ago. But there's plenty of those motors and tanks around. I have a 1956 5.5 Johnson that I can idle down slow enough to read the words on the flywheel.I've seen used tanks for around $35. If you clean your up you could maybe get more. These tanks have washers/gaskets/o-rings under the heads of the screws that hold down the top assembly. You probably need to replace them as they are key to the tank maintaining air pressure.
0 ChuckN
I have the exact same metal tank, hook-up w/ gas gauge. I looked at mine and it's a complete match with that large round post, but my fitting goes around that post. Strange that you say it didn't work? My tank/OMC popular fitting fits my late 60's 4hp, 9.5hp, '74 15hp and mid-1980's larger outboards too. I had never noticed that post until you posted the picture and looked at my tank. In the family we have the really old motor w/tank (1950's) with the double hose.
0 boatfixer
That's not the old 2 line pressure tank. First of all, there is no primer on the tank. If you guys can remember, there was a small black button that you had to depress several times. Second, the 2 lines were side by side, with the "locking clip" in the middle, just above the lines. Third, the cap was much larger than the one shown. I have 2 of those old tanks out in the shed, and no, they are not for sale
0 Valv
DeanoB, you can file off your fitting to make it fit this tank. There are a couple or three versions of the OMC female fitting.
0 Surface Tension
boatfixer, I haven't seen one of those old tanks in a while and on closer inspection, you are correct.
0 boatfixer
I suppose it's possible that he may have an aftermarket fitting such as attwood, sierra, or aquapower. Those aren't always a perfect fit.
