hardwaterfishing
I have a spot where there are a ton of woodies. On Saturday and Sunday we could get them to decoy in. Now they land 20-30 yards out or to the side of them. Any ideas? Tomorrow I am going to move farther down the shoreline, maybe they are spooked? I only have one dozen wood duck decoys. I put them out with a few mallards and teal. I usually put them in two different groups about 20 yards apart. Thanks...
HunterLee
If it isn't a big pond and its only woodies using it, just put our a couple like 3-4 dekes and shoot them when they come by. I don't think that woodies decoy the best, they have their spot and thats where they go. They are also a little gun shy if you have shot at them the last 3 days. So either put out a few or no decoys and past shoot or put out the same flock and set up outside where they are going to. Shouldn't be two hard to pick off 2. ice-man/vexilar-king
Play the wind it changed. That is part of your problem. Also put the decoys to the side and shoot them while they turn into the decoys. Two birds? you should be done in 15min.

HUNTFISH69
From my experiences hunting wood ducks, they land in almost any decoy spread you through out there. I've hunted west MN and had woodies land in diver decoys. When they decoy is when we shoot most of them.

hardwaterfishing
I have no problem getting my limit every morning before school. I was just wondering what I was doing wrong to not get them to decoy into the decoys. I guess I like shooting them when they are 20 yards or closer not 50-60 witch they were landing. I just moved down the shoreline further and them come in better. I do not know why, maybe they were just leery of the other spot.

woody1975
I am guessing he is saying that he has his decoys set out to approximately 20 or 30 yards and the birds are landing 20-30 yards beyond that. 50 to 60 yards is a poke. I agree with what is said above, just put out a few deeks and play the wind.My .
