New Nikon Shotgun Scope?

Nikon has a new shotgun scope out this year. It is made specifically for the new generation high speed sabots (like the Hornady SST or Winch Partition Gold's). It has a trajectory compensating reticle to compensate for distance. Has anyone tried this scope yet? If so, were the different aiming points fairly accurate? Any feedback would be appreciated, especially with regard to how accurate the distances were, which brand of sabot you used, and how long of a barrel you use.

I am not normally a Nikon fan, but this caught my eye.

Nikon glass has just pulled ahead of Leupold. They have put out some really good scopes. I got last years Shotgun model and love it. I shoot Hornady SST's and love those as well. Don't know about the ballistics with the scope in question, but as far as products go, those are quality products.

Havent tried the new model yet. Maybe theyll send me one.

I have/had the old version. 2.5 to 7 variable. It lasted 19 rounds(3 season, including sighting ins) in my slug gun with Winchester Supremes.

Last year, (November) I couldnt get it to zero. Bought a new Leupold for my Marlin SLugmaster and sent the Nikon in and was going to use it on a new cantilevered Hastings rifled barrel I bought for my farther in law for an 870 I have.

I havent received the scope back from Nikon yet.... going on 10 months. I called the store that sent it in and they say they havent gotten it back yet, but will look into to. That was 2 weeks ago. Still nothing.

MN season is fast approaching and I wanna get sighted in.

I did buy 5 boxes of Hornadys SSTs last week for 11.59 per box. What is the going rate for these? Ive never shot the SSTs before and I thought I'd rig my FILs gun up for them.

I am also a Leupold man. They take a beating, especially with slugs, which really produce a great deal of recoil. Nikon's technology in the new scope does intrigue me though. These new generation slugs have an effective range of 200 yards. My gun, with a 100 yard zero, will shoot 12 to 15 inches low at 200 yards. I have not shot a deer that far with slugs, but it is good to know you have the option. I have shot one out to 150 yards and it was quite effective. It would be nice to not have to "guess" at my aiming points. I am skeptical about accuracy though because of different barrel lenghts or different brands of ammo. It seems to me that you would have to build this scope to exact specification for very specific equipment to be accurate. Is that right?

As far as the price on SST's, that is right in the ball park. Shooting new generation sabots is not a cheap proposition.

If anyone has tried this scope, any feed back would be greatly appreciated.

I typically have to pay about $15 for the Supremes, so I thought the SSTs were cheap

I to am looking at this scope just got a new 11-87 but dont know what scope to go on it,also looking at the leupold 3-9 but with so many out there dont know witch way to go.

I have a leupold 1x4 on my 11-87. Great light transition, very durable. I have had it for 10 or so. And is very accurate!

Well, No word on the repair of my scope, so far.

The new Nikon SLug Hunter has intrigued me enough that I ordered one tonight.

Will let ya know what I think when I get it mounted up and sighted in.

I read product reviews on the new Nikon, and in the end, I bought the Leupold Shotgun VX I 2 x 7. I have it on another gun and it served me well. It has really good light transmission, which was the knock on the Nikon. The reticle technology does intrigue me though.

just had my leupold vx1 2x7 put on my 11-87 and cant wait to get to the range and try it out will let you know how it works

just got back from the range the gun and scope worked great but the only thing is that now have to wait til opener for the real test.
