Lake Lewisville, Texas

Hey guys, not really expecting a response, but thought I would throw it out there... Anybody been on this lake in Texas or know anything about it? I have a college national championship tournament there in about two weeks. 50+ schools from around the nation, possible 3 day tournament and a $14,000 top prize for the winning schools club. Might be the biggest tourney I may ever take part in. If anyone has any info that would be great, if not its no big deal. I've been doing a ton of research on it and will be down there for a whole week to practice beforehand. Really looking forward to it. I'll be sure to post how it went..

Make sure it's not in the rules that you can't receive information about the lake a month beforehand from a non-competitor. I know the ABA Regional Championship reads that way. So any information like you posted would be against the rules.

Our rule reads this exactly:

"Contestants may not receive any assitance or advice from anyone except another contestant of the Regional Championship for the purpose of locating or catching fish once the off-limits period begins."

I'd think the college circuit you're in, would read something similar to that. Just making you aware, I wouldn't want you to get caught and DQed because of a stupid rule.

Hey Bobby, thanks for heads up. I've already read over the rules and regs and it states that you cannot "purchase" or "hire" services after the final entry date of Sept. 15th. I'm not sure that FM would be considered a form of info that I purchased or hired, so I think I'm in the clear. Thanks again though.

Sounds good. Good Luck down there. My uncle actually lives on Lake Lewisville but he is not a fisherman, otherwise I would of helped you out. That lake is up and down. When he bought his house on Lewisville, it was up to his back fence. Then the lake was nowhere to be found when they had a bad drought down there about 5-8 years ago or something like that. I guess it's back up after all the rain they go this summer. Good luck. Could you purchase old videos from B.A.S.S. when they were on Lewisville a couple years ago.

Bobby,

Yeah the lake has really flucuated a lot this past couple years. I've been keeping an eye on it...it was 10ft below normal pool at this time last year when they had the 2006 tournament, then it rose to 10ft above normal pool this summer..now its back down to about 3ft above normal pool. This lake is stingy man, I have a feeling its not going to take much to win. If I have 5 fish a day I will be happy. Its taking about 10lbs or less a day to win down there right now, with some bags being a little bigger, we'll see what happens, it might be better than expected. Its goin to be hard to breakdown a 29,000 acre lake in two days, especially when the southern boys have been on it most of the summer getting ready for this tournament. Didn't get a video of the BASS tourney, but have read all the details about how Vandam won. Shakeyhead and finesse stuff untill the last day he broke out the spinnerbait... I used to play Varsity hockey for Eagan two years ago. I broke my leg senior year but made it back for playoffs when we made it to state for the 1st time in school history, crazy playin in front of 18,000 people.

hella,

I'm fishing for the University of Iowa

Yeah, I know what you mean. I played in the State tourney my junior year for South St. Paul. In '95-'96 season.

Well...it looks as if were not going to make it to the tournament anymore unless we find a boat to use.. The club president said he had boats lined up for us to use and then he tells my team partner and I (yesterday) that we have to find our own boat otherwise were not going to be in the tournament. We are supposed to leave monday, think I'm a little ticked at the pres.?

So heres my lousy request..Anyone here willing to donate a boat or know of someone that would be willing enough? I feel absolutely terrible asking to borrow what would probably be a $10-40,000 boat for an entire week, but we are desperate right now.. I'm willing to drive back up to MN this weekend if I have to. Thanks for any responses or ideas..

This might be a bad ideal but have you guys tried calling a boat dealer and seeing if they would donate some boats or something. Call them and talk to the store manger and tell them about your situation and see what they can do for you. It could be good press for them if they have some used boats on the lot that you guys could use, It’s worth a shot man… All they can say is no and you will just move on and try something else.

I've tried calling a bunch of places down here in Iowa, no luck yet... I did find one boat we can use though thats back home in MN, A deep V with a 50hp, so at least were going to be able to fish the tournament, but we are still looking to see if we can't find something else.

This problem may have sped up the process of buying a boat at the end of next summer, I might be in MN this weekend to look at a used boat, we'll see what happens.

The tournament is the 27th-29th. Heres the HSOforum:http://www.collegiatebasschampionship.com/index.htm

If the site gets taken off this site, just search "college national bass fishing championship".

First day of practice was today...man was it brutal. Hopefully it was just a tough day in general, otherwise its going to be a long week. I caught 5 fish but they were all about 13.5 inches, they need to be 14in. to keep. Hopefully it picks up tomorrow..
