Fast Flow + Fog = Fat Fiesty Flathead

With the water coming up as fast as it has, I did not have a whole lot of confidence last night, but alas, it was nice and Hanson was more than willing to give me some company, so we gave it a shot.

Ran into ec30-06 and peder on our way to our first spot. Nice seeing ya guys and cool boat Eddie!

But talking to them was not good news....no fish in the boat with quite few hours under their belt.

We set up and not too much later, my pole slowly loads up and locks in, fish on! Big fish! Feels like a flat....sure didn't look like one though.

That's right, Dturtle Strikes again crazy.gif

Followed that up with a small channel and sat a while before trying a different spot.

In the meantime the fog rolled in big time. Quite possibly the foggiest I've ever seenfrown.gif

Because of the raging current we setup in a cut that was out of the main current and a swift moving eddy a result.

15 minutes later I set the hook into a fish (or did the fish set the rod into me). The fish nearly took me for a ride into the drink shocked.gif

End Result:

42x26 and 34lbs

(I get the funny feeling Hanson think's I'm a lucky son of a gun grin.gif)

Nice fish yet again. What is that like your 60th flat of the year and 20th over 30lbs? LOL.

For the heck of it, I am keeping track this year to see if I could make it to 50. I'm knocking on the door wink.gif

Nice job, Darren! Hey, I bet your turtle count is higher than most peoples' flathead count! smile.gif

DTurtleFlat strikes again!

Someday I'll realize that work isn't as important as it seems, and fishing is more important than it seems.

I have you down for 1 but you may have 2?..... your certainly having a great year on Numbers of both Flats and Channels.

You are on the ball. grin.gif ONLY (1) over 30lb Flat this year, 32lbs to be exact caught on my 2nd trip out back in early May.

Now that I'm thinking about it, Dtro's 33lb yesterday was the next biggest flat I've personally seen period this year. But Kyle & I are changing that tomorrow. Enough with this nicy nice talk, we're given' 'er the onion tomorrow! Snakes & Sparklers man! grin.gif

Nice fish Dtro. We proceeded to miss several other nice bites on cut bait, and had a good hit on a big creek chub after we talked to you. It tore the chub off before I could get a hook in it though.
