Rotwieler
i just got an email back from the MN DNR. if you have served overseas in the past 24 months and you are a resident of MN you can obtain one free deer tag. to get it you can go to anywhere that sells deer tags, show them your discharge papers (your DD214 im assuming) and a MN drivers lisence. limit is one tag. you can also get a free small game license. harvey lee
Seems like a very good thing to do for all that the Veterans have done for us.

roosterslayer
Well i really like it, my wife just returned home from 18 months in the sandbox, and she also thinks it is nice since this will be her first year deer hunting. The cost of the license isn't that much so it wouldn't break the bank, but I think the state has done a wonderful thing with this as a gift for all those veterans that missed the last two seasons cause they were fighting for their state and country. TrophyEyes
They also changed the law about getting your hunters safety classes if you have served. You have to check the regs, but I believe it said that if you can show you were in the service and you are "range certified" then all you have to do is take the test and you are done. I have a buddy that is going to do that, and now he can do it online. I like that they aren't making these men and women jump through all the hoops. They obviously know how to handle a firearm, and hopefully people that have that kind of training understand ethics. They are also allowed to fish for free if I remember correctly. They just have to have their service papers on them as a license. Anyways, I think it is a good move. My best friend flies back today from Afghanistan for a two week leave. Then it is back to the stone age.
