We were their last weekend and the fishing was not very good. Some warm water was in 67 surface and down to 45 feet the same. Hopefully the wind comes out of the West for a few days. Some of the boats are now starting to fish close to shore and targeting brown trout and salmon staging for the fall.

Good luck

Well Val? How was the trip out to Algoma? Any specific presentations that shined? I heard there is a prettygood bite out of Port Washington right now. I have to believe with the recent rains things might get going in close too.

Well, as many told me before leaving it was slow, very slow. We managed to pull in 3 fish in 3 days and lost 2. All the charters were scrambling everywhere to find fish for their customer. I cannot tell any particular presentation that worked, since all the fish I've caught was on different lures. From a copper spoon to watermellon glow, to watermellon clown, an aqua fly.

Wind changed every day from every direction, rain and bad weather didn't help much.

I don't know if I'll make it again this year, but we booked again earlier for next year.

Overall for me was a fun time, I haven't fished much this year and me and my wife enjoy big water fishing, even if not much productive.

Thanks for the update Val. I had heard the weather was a bit rough and the bite was tough from a couple folks. My dad and his buddies are heading out this next weekend to give it a try again. I have family duty so I will stay home this time but am hoping to hit the shallow water bite at the end of the month if I can make it.

talked to my dad last night. he got one out of sturgeon bay. was in 200 fow down 99 feet. he said the same thing, the water has warmed up quite a bit. they have to be moving in soon even if the water is warm.

I spent the Labor day weekend fishing out of Al-slow-goma, as it was a tough bite still.

Thursday afternoon and evening we had success with a good flurry of activity near sundown, biggest pushing a bit over 20 lbs, 8 fish for the 1/2 day out. We were in 68.5 degree water in 105 feet. Thought that Thursday night would lead to better things to come, but it was slow Friday and Saturday. We went way out Friday, about 10 miles, we were graphing lots, just not getting them to go.

Wind picked up and by Sunday we had 6 foot swells. Water temp changed drastically, with some temps in the upper 50 in close over 30 to 40 feet deep, and down to 64 out deeper. Still, couldn't get much going Sunday. Mainly the downriggers, dipseys popped a few fish, but far fewer than in July.

We saw a couple really nice fish caught off the breaker wall in the harbor on Sunday, so maybe things are starting to go and some are moving in closer.

Good luck to anyone headed up.

Chris

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
