spitz31
First trip to Canada(Eagle Lake)in early September. As a newbie, what would you recommend to bring as far as fishing equipment and clothing? I imagine it could get a little cold in the mornings but warmer later in the day. Also don't want to haul all sorts of tackle up there if just the basics will do. Any "must have" items (clothing, gear, tackle) that might not be obvious? Any help would be appreciated!
mojoputter
We were up on Dog Lake last September and it was very cold in the morning and cold in the afternoon. We were wearing stocking caps, long underwear, gloves and good warm jackets. Then the fun started and it started to rain, so make sure you have quality rain gear unless you puss out and don't want to fish in the rain. As far as fishing, all we used were green leadhead jigs with a night crawler and lindy rigs tipped with a crawler. Were going up there again this Saturday, hopefully going a month earlier the weather will be better. Good Luck
iffwalleyes
Good raingear including waterproof boots are a must any time you head that way. Lots of tackle those rocks up there will rob you all day.

nitroant
Rain gear, heavy cloths, a good assortment of jigs in size and color for walleye, maybe some rapalas and for the pike bring some spoons along. Its not everyday a guy can get up to Canada, bring as much as you can so that your not caught without the one thing they are biting on. I don't like bringing everything but the kitchen sink either, but don't cut youself short to save a few sq. ft or pounds either....unless your taking a float plane, then its a different deal. Also as a first time crosser to Canada, be sure you group memebers don't have any D.U.I. or other outstanding items that will keep anybody from getting in. Have fun.
