Battery or corded electric fillet knife

I am planning on buying an electric fillet knife, and I was looking online at some reviews, and the battery units didn't get a rave review. There were things like poor battery charges and overall life of the battery (needing replacements) and safety switches on the trigger that get painful. The corded electrics got rave reviews. Anyone have comments one way or the other. I was planning on buying battery powered even though I have power nearby. I may be changing my tune and I'm looking for feedback.

I have a Rapala electric that also has an attachment for battery. I love it. Some of my friends have the battery one and it doesn't seem to have the same power. The knife is great. I saw a new one on craigs for 20.00 last night.

I use the "Electric Fisherman" by Mister Twister-its a corded model and it works great. I think it ran $15 or so.

Replacement blades are cheap too. The only drawback is the cord is sometimes just a little too short.

I have some friends who have battery models and they can wear out over time and the battery keeps losing life-I'd go for a corded model if possible.

I have the electric outdoorsman Filet king. It's a cheaper model I believe and corded. When I go on trips I always seem to have an outlet but it might be nice to have one that uses either or (if they even make one). I do know I would never go back to the old fasion knife. This knife has been put through the ringer. Out on trips to SD in the winter I clean the fish even when they are frozen (not completly solid though). I don't think a battery model would last to long doing that. I can smell the beatting in the air while doing it. But it keeps on a trucking.

I have two corded electric knives. One is 110v and one is a 12 volt one. The 12 volt one came with the lighter plug-in and the spring clips to hook to any 12 volt battery. The cord on the 12 volt knife is long. I can hook it to the battery in the front of my boat and clean the fish on the tailgate of the pick-up.

The Mister twister electric knives are good. I got a cheaper one at Wal-mart becauce it had a longer cord, but I don't think it has as much power as the Mister twister brand.

i just buy the fleet farm special electric carving knife and it works as good as the rappala battery filet knife i had and it ownly cost 10 bucks. if your dead set on one made for fishing i would not get the battery powered one because they do not give you long enough run time and the batteries go bad pretty quick.

Another thing I forgot. The Rapala has a pointed tip, which makes it nice for cutting "point first" if you need too. Some are rounded and I didn't care for them as much. The one is still on hsolist for 20.00 (new) electric/w battery attachment.

I have the rapala one that comes with the three different hook-ups (wall, cigarette adapter or aligator clips) and love it. That way you can use it anywhere and don't have to worry about charging it. A buddy had the rechargable Rapala one and had to get a new one after about 10 uses (he might have messed the battery up himself though).

I have the Mr. Twister one as well. They are great but I will throw in one word of caution. If you are using it over a stainless steel table whatch out you sometimes get zapped. Happens alot around the fish cleaning stations salmon fishing. I am going to try and remember to bring some gloves or something to try next time.

I have the Rapala battery one and have used it for the last year. I like it and have not had any problems with it. It comes with 2 batteries and as long you are using one and have the other charging I have never gone dead. I cleaned a pile of pearch last winter for about an hour+ and I had to change the battery once when the original got a little low.
