"Big Dipper" hocky stick ice scoops.

Cliff Wagenbach

Recommended Posts

I just recieved a "Big Dipper" ice scoop in the mail to field trial.
This scoop is really well made and looks like it will be a real back and knee saver out on the ice.(30" hockey stick handle.) Plus it can be used to bank your portables too without having to worry about wrecking it!
I think Mark has a real winner here!

I talked with Mark a couple of weeks ago about the Big Dipper. I received a sample and it looks like it does have plenty of advantages over other ice dippers.

I liked it so much we're going to make it available to all of you here.

I'll let you know when the details are available.

I have a couple more innovations to look at and another I recently viewed.

Get ready for some real break throughs that may Rock your ice fishing world. grin.gif

Mark stopped out here for some info. and ideas about his Big Dipper. I agree with Cliff & Rick it is a quality product. The best thing I like about it is if it falls in the hole it FLOATS! You won’t lose this dipper in the lake! Also it won’t rust and the hockey stick handle is wood so it isn’t so cold on your hands like a metal dipper. Hmm let me see now>30” of measuring on the wood handle> durable plastic scoop & big enough to scoop snow> I don’t have to bend over> large holes in the scoop to drain the water quickly>it won’t freeze up like a metal scoop>made in a small northern town in MN. USA.
Rick you better get these on your site ASAP and into your loyal fishingmn family members.
Mark also has great Lefse! grin.gif
When Rick makes these available make sure you check them out!

Hey guys! confused.gif Be patient Rick might have them on here today? Just got off the phone with him. He’s a busy person and all these projects take time. The Big Dipper is a well-built & indestructible dipper and the best part is it FLOATS! Take a look at it and see what you think. My $1.00 worth of an honest opinion on another great product from northern Minnesota! smile.gif
See a later.

Now that is an Ice Scooper!! Wow! Why didn't I think of that. Wait until you guys/gals see this baby. I can't wait to try it out. Besides looking like it could totally clean a hole in one pass, it has a handy 30 inch ruler on the side. Perfect!!Scott Steil

That is cool. On a slow day all you need is a few guys with the Big Dipper, a tennis ball an you can play a little lacrosse.
And to think how many broken hockey sticks I threw away over the years.
Nice idea,
Tully

Just ordered one, looks nice and well built. Could also use it to club a Norskie or somebody that is to close to you. wink.gif
If enough of these hit the ice this year I'm sure I'll be hearing "He shoots...He scores" coming accross the ice at one time or another.

When I first received mine in the mial, I had to chuckle, but when reading the instructions I instantly changed from humor to excitement.

It states: If ice builds up on it, "give it a good whack"!!!!! How many products out there tell you to use their product like that????

I am ready to field test this baby and give it several BIG whacks!!!!!!

Keep the rods bendin'!!!

I'm glad you guys like the looks of the Big Dipper units. Yes they have been used to play snow lacrosse! A squashed down beer can works just fine!
Glad you like the longer handle. The MAIN reason I've been using the 30"
handle is that in my advancing years (40+)I've noticed my knees getting a little
creaky in cold weather and I figure why not use a longer handle and
eliminate some of the stooping - kneeling (cold-wet knees) etc. It also
works great for douching out your hole and getting the ice that hangs up on
the sides down aways. After you use it a few times you'll figure out that
you can move lots of snow and slop and the handle is long enough to grab
with both hands. Like one of my buddies who tested my earlier prototypes
said: "this thing is the HummVee of ice scoops". I guess I've bought a lot
of cheap-flimsy stuff (like everyone else), and I figured If I use top notch materials and build The Big
Dipper the way I want and what I need an ice scoop to do maybe a few other
guys will be willing to pay a little extra for a high quality piece of
essential gear. Thanks, Best Regards, Mark Edevold

Hi All,

I hope the boys in Gonvick have a tractor/trailer full of these "BIG DIPPERS"
ready to move out before Christmas.

I was wondering what to get my brother
for Christmas.....not anymore.

It has been hard enough waiting for ice
but now it will be even worse. I wanna try
out my "BIG DIPPER"

Hi Kooba,
I just tested and it looks like it's working fine.

I just updated so maybe it's working fine for you now. I added the links below.

I'm with the rest of the guys. I won't be out ice fishing without mine, that's for sure. Tougher, better, more features. Who can pass that up smile.gif

Jeff and guys, I just got a very pleasant surprise this AM when I opened up the box containing my new Croxton Pond bag that I ordered from FishinMN the other day. Wow!! what a beautiful unit.

Of course the first thing I did was load a Big Dipper in to see how it fit. It fits great!!, just like they were made for each other. I also put in a few rods, and two tip-ups in one of the side compartments. I love the carrying straps so you can wear it pack style on your back.

All I need now is a doz. minnows And I'm ready to go. With the 0 -degree low we had here last night I wouldn't be surprised if there's 6" on Pine Lake. ( the ice was 3.5" -4" when I checked on Monday)

Tip-up time!!! Thanks for making these top notch products available..

Greetings from Gonvick, Mark Edevold

I never would have thought that some one would improve a Ice Scooper enough for me to have to shell out some cash and buy a new one but this thing looks like the ticket.

Your right randall there is always that huge black lab that lays a monster turd right next my fish house. This would be a good chucker Once it's frozen it should make a nice thud on my neighbors house.
