whats the best way to kill a skunk, right now i'm thinking of a .22 short out the back window of the house(that'll put me about 8-10 feet away) i'm hoping i can get a good head shot...but any other advice will be greatly appreciated

If you shoot them in the head, they spray about 99% of the time. If you shoot them in the lungs, and don't get them to riled up they spray about 25% of the time. Try a shott just behind the front shoulder.

I shot one Sunday morning with a 3" 2 oz. load of No.6 lead (turkey load) at 20 yards. He didn't even twitch much less spray.

shoot in lungs let get away from your house then u don't hav to smell them

I use my .223 knocks them out before they can spray. The key is to make a good one shot instant kill!

If using a shotgun, hit them in the back(spine)at about the hind legs. Would try not to do it near the house, because there is usualy a little residual smell, but not a spray.
