Princeton Tec Light

I Received my new headlamp this week from fishing Minnesota and am happy with the product. It's very lightweight and gives off more light than my older, much heavier model. The elastic headband is comfortable and the tilt feature should be useful for tying on lures.
This unit is a must have for the night fisherman.

I also received my PTA headlamp this week. After testing it out by playing cards with my daugher in the dark, I'm very pleased with its operation and expect that it will be perfect for evening icefishing. Can't wait to put it to the real test.

Rick and FM. Thanks for the good deal and fast, service.

Received my head lamp and used it at LOW all weekend. It was great! Gives off a nice diffused light that is more like a lantern than a flashlight. I would highly recommend one. Just wish I had one before. Now if I can just keep it from disappearing around my fishing buds......

I already lost mine.....Arrrrrrrrghhhhhh!
Went bowhunting with it, brought it home now its gone. I loved that thing!
I've done nothing but praise the thing, but I have one complaint,.....its creapy! Let me explain. I went bowhunting a little while ago and I used it for walking back in the dark. The light is extremely bright in the middle and all around in front of you, even on the sides. But out of the corner of you're eye, its gloomy. So I'm walking back, completely exhausted from the weekend. I hunt about 2.5 miles from my vehicle and civilization. When you're tired ,cold, and alone wierd things start happening in the dark, in the woods. Maybe I'm just a whiner. Its earie enough, but it seemed even worse with that light, seeing you're breathe in that bright light, walking in pitch black, seeing things, looking behind you, exhausted, and freaked, and that kind of light just topped it off. But I still love the thing, now I just gotta find the little bugger.

I don't think it was the light that freaked you out, it was the walking out of the woods in the dark. I've done it many times myself and it's very easy for your imagination to get the best of you. I always thought it was more freaky walking to my tree-stand at about 4am--2 hours before it got light. It was alway a relief to get up in the tree.

I actually used my PTA for the first time last night while fishing on Coon. It is the greatest. I don't think I will ever take my lantern out on the ice agian. I fished with mine on the medium setting and it was perfect. I plan on buying one more just to mount inside my portable for my permanent house lighting. There's no easier, cheaper way to light your shelter.

Found it! Alriiiiight! I'm used to walking with the old flashlight strapped to my head. This weighs about 5 LBs less. I'm a little easier when I know theres somebody close by, but that gloomy bluish light On the sides got me. So I'm not the only one to scurry up the tree, Hah!

What in the world are you loon-a-ticks doing walking around in the woods at 4am. Don't you know that if you sleep in til about 7:30, then have a cup of coffee and toast while watching out the window you'll get your first deer of the day.(keep a loaded gun by the door) Then take an easy stroll out to the stand and shoot another deer on the way. Then go sit in your stand for an hour or so, get froze up and head in for your second breakfast and a nap. etc..etc..... The headlights (oops, I mean headlamps) come in handy for dressing out those evening kills.

I'll have to give the prince tec a try for ice fishing.

Thanks guys smile.gif

Your support of FishingMinnesota is much appreciated. You'll really appreciate the LED headlamps.

It lights up pretty good at 180 degreees to where you're looking.

Brighter directly where you're looking, but still fine to 180 degrees.

You can also adjust the brightness with 3 intensity levels.

I believe I'll be fishing without a lantern a time or two this winter using it.

For you who would like to read about these headlamps or purchase a set click here

If you'd like to see all the ice fishing gear Click here

Anyone else get there's?
What do you think of them?

I haven't yet used a headlamp in a shak but I use them all the time when fishing at night on dark scarrrry rivers and it gives me all the light I need for tying up and landing fish and keeping the boogie man at bay!I think in a small portable you will have more than enough light.

This light is kind of spooky. You forget that you've got it on and everywhere you turn you can see. I have used it fishing in my Otter cabin twice and it works great. It's really nice when it's time to go and you're putting stuff away, you've got both hands free!
I also have two twin element LED lights from Walmart, about 8 bucks apiece. They give off a nice soft light and I hang one off of each of the rod holders on the side of my sled. It's more light than I need, tonight I just used the Tec Light. It's great!

I have the Princeton quest. Basically mine doesn't adjust brightness and I am not sure is the Tec brighter? I have used a few battery lanterns camping but most are pretty dim....

Swill,
the Princeton Tec Aurora will replace your lantern in a portable...it's That Bright.

Not quite as bright as a good running lantern but pretty close.

Maybe that's why they made it to run dimmer if wanted.

As far as whether the PTA lights up the whole shelter or just where you're looking, if you're not looking at a certain spot, you don't need it lit!

I fish with two holes in my portable, and while my head and eyes and light are pointing at one hole, there's enough light bleeding to cast light on the other hole, and that's all a guy really needs.

Way better than farting around with the propane lantern like I used to.

You just change the 3 AAA batteries and it's good to go again. The LED lights are rated for 10,000 hours of use.

They last 50 hours on the brightest setting, 90 hours on the next and 160 hours on the next.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
