Yes, the Fisherman is back for 2008. Now called 1850 & 1750 Fisherman. Base pricing much the same as 2006. The 1850 w/ 150 Verado around $31,000. Available to order now for late summer delivery. Nice rig!

I'm glad to hear it.. I think they were missing a big chunk in their boat lineup (or maybe their pricing line up) without it.

as long as it is not rough, the fisherman is just about as good as the tyee. when it is blowing however there is no comparison that fisherman will beat you up and the tyee is smooth as glass. I know this first hand and these facts are not debatable.

I HAVE WITNESSED 2 18' FISHERMAN BOATS ON THE SAME TRIP TO CANADA AS ME I HAVE A 2025 AND ANOTHER BUDDY HAS A TYEE AND THE TYEE HAD TO BUST THE WAVES AND I WENT BEHIND THAT AND THE FISHERMEN BEHIND ME AND THEY WERE STILL GETTING THE STIH KICKED OUT OF THEM. SO LESSON LEARNED" IN LIFE WE LEARN TIME AND TIME AGAIN THAT YOU GET WHAT U PAY FOR" SO OPINION MY ARS

I am not sure on the more current models but I have the 21 foot fisherman and it had the more durable hull design, same gauge aluminum, etc. as the baron and tyee. That was one of the reasons I went with it. But the 17 and 18 foot fisherman at that time did not and never has to my knowledge. My 2100 fisherman busts the waves unbelivably well. But I have been in a couple of different 1800 fisherman boats and can tell you that they do not bust the waves anywhere near what my 2100 does. Subsequently, Lund also came out with the 2000 fisherman. I am not sure if that had similar hull design and gauge as the baron or tyees or not. But yes, I would agree that the 1850 tyee is definitely more boat then the 1800 fisherman for rough water. If I were going on Lake Superior or Lake Michigan much, I would go with the Tyee....I would also check out the 2000 fisherman in terms of hull, aluminum, etc

Would this happen to be in one of the transition years when the Tyee had the IPS hull and the fisherman did not?

The Tyee is just built a little different. If you look at the weight of the boats, the Tyee foot for foot is heavier and rated for more horsepower. Also, the IPS chine measures differently. I have two friends that have 1800 fishermans. They're good boats for most water conditions. I wouldn't worry about it much unless you find yourself in rough seas alot. Since I find myself on big water alot (Rainy, Mille Lacs, Lake Superior, Lake Michigan), I went with the thicker hull and heavier boat and haven't regretted it.

I have an 1850 TYEE and I would argue that it is not as smooth as glass in a chop. I get wet and it has pounded the heck out of me many a day. Smooth as glass? I don't think so. It is a very stable platform that I trust with my life! I feel very safe in the old girl and I can't think of any boat that I would replce it with that would serve me better. Just not smooth as glass is all.

If it is rough out there there isn't an aluminum boat that is going to ride like glass. You will have to drive for the conditions. If it is really rough there aren't many glass boat that are going to ride smooth.

But back to the topic at hand I am glad they are bringing the Fisherman back it was a great boat and I thought it was a mistake for lund to drop them I guess it only took a year to realize that. I do like the full windshield I still don't care for the high sides. That is one thing I like about the prov the sides are lower allowing you better access to the water in my opinion.

The high sides really depends what type of fishing you do. There are advantages to both. Personally, I like the high sides with small kids and also when in rough water

Yep good points I know there have been days I wish I had high sides. More than anything a full windshield.

I have 2003 Fisherman, and never have had any problems with the handling in rough water, like one guy posted, you have to drive the boat to the conditions...Nothing is going to be smooth in really rough water. (I have been out on Mille Lacs with 5 footers before as well, and felt very save.)

I love the boat, and so do the wife and kids. Now I just wish that I would have went with a little bigger boat, but at 17'5" I can still get it into almost any lake that I want to fish.....and not scared off with some chop on the water. Have only gotten wet a few times, and that was just with some spray coming back up over the sides when the wind was really whipping.

While we are at it, why not compare similar boats.....17 and 18 footers or a 21 footer....Hummm, weight difference along, plus fuel.....More weight is obviously gonna break waves better. Just simple science there.
