non-motorized tournaments

Anybody here know of any non-motorized tournaments? Seems like it might be kind of fun. Get some exercise, fish, compete.

That does sound like fun. I don't know of any but maybe we can organize one...it would be hard without livewells though, that probably why you dont see any.

I love it! great idea, we could just do it for fun and just measure and release the fish, then go by the honor system. no prizes except mabye being known as the no-mo champ!

I think the way that these things are typically done is that you measure the fish on a ruler, take a picture, and at the end of the day compare pictures. Winner is determined by length not weight.

There are a lot of other kayak tournaments out there. We can easily use the structure that they have established. Here is a link with pretty straightforward rules.

Now the real question is where and when to have it. Sounds like we have a fair number for a little friendly tournament. We can throw $20 into the pot, winner gets 60%, 2nd 30%, 3rd 10%. Or whatever.

But I suggest we do it on a fairly quiet electric only lake, perferably with great fishing and a place to BBQ after the event so i can meet you all in person.

That sounds like a blast! Aren't there a few lakes out in Carver cnty. by Victoria that fit the bill? Other suggestions? Dates?

There are some nice lakes that fit the bill in the SW metro. Although I do a lot of canoeing I rarely fish around here. Maybe cyber or some of the other guys could help with a location.

i'd be up for that! maybe auburn ... parley ... zumbra ... stieger? all these are SW metro lakes small in size with pretty good fish.

Those are pretty good lakes, except parley, it can be like pea soup in the summer, yuk

Bush,Mitchell and redrock also would be good, they have a nine horse limit, no skiers and stuff. these lakes can kick out a big bass or pike sometimes, and bush has tigers too...

I've done really well on redrock in the winter, but never tried it in the summer.

It's been a few months since I had the Fish Cat out but I'd be up for a little fishing tourney
