Hot clear... Stable conditions...

Fever

With these stable weather conditions and with the wind and sun all fairly consistant I was curious what all you Bassers out there have for a fav. go to presentation. I recently got into shaky head jigs and 5 - 7 inch plastics to accompany the jig. I've had some success but havent been lighting it up yet. I unfortunatley haven't had much success with the buzzbait or the spinnerbait yet. Steady conditions in theory should only improve the bite I'm thinking. I'm actually thinking of throwing a 10 inch worm tonight because of the stable weather we've had the last 4 days or so... What do you think? grin.gif

Fev- its really going to depend on the area of the state you are. Much of MN is in post spawn and the warm stable conditions are helping to move along the process some. In the southern part of the state (metro and south) the fish are just now starting to move out to the weedlines. I have not found huge schooling action yet, but some are starting to make their move deeper.. and that also has some fish pulling into slop as well...I still am not throwing a lot of topwater yet... Jig worm, shalow water flippin is what I have been doing best on as of late...

I was out last night on a South Metro lake. Fish that were on the inside weedlines 2 weeks ago were no longer there. I expected this, but had so much success two weeks agoI had to give it a go. I ended up moving to some slop areas that were not producing two weeks ago, not even a bite. Last night however I got 3 in the slop for the 2 hours that I got out, no fast and furious action but all fish came on a frog. Didn't have much time so I never got out to the deep water, just fished visible good looking cover.

With this stable weather we should really start to see those summer patterns emerging. I like spring fishing no doubt, but I can't wait until those fish get into those old reliable patterns where most times you know where to find them. just my opinion

Was out yesterday at a "clear" lake. Didn't find the bite in deeper waters. Saw lots of schooling fish in the shallows near weedlines that were negative. Most of the fish caught were off docks with deep waters nearby on the windy side. Off two docks my son and I caught over 20 fish wacky rigging!! We visited the docks after fishing them once and they reloaded again about an hour later. Son never tried wacky rigging and now he is hooked. Fish were very particular in color(watermelon/red).

bm64,

were you fishing in the northern part or MN? If you were you may have been fishing an immediate post-spawn pattern with fish that had just moved off the beds and are still staging in shallow. Here in the South Metro I had this pattern going about a week ago. A lot of these fish that I was on have moved out now. It was great while it lasted!

stcroix, I was fishing a lake near home in east central area. It was kinda frustrating seeing all these bass swimming around the boat and not hitting. Just an occasional hit. This was on the south end of the lake. The north end was where all the action was. Water temp is about 76. Also, saw lots of large sunnies in the shallows. I think they were in the spawn/post spawn too.

2 weeks ago in the Alex area i saw a bass chasing sunfish away from its bed, it must have been a late spawner because i saw many of bass cruising around.

Today the only shallow fish I could find were in the slop. The real bite was out on midlake structure. Rock humps or weedlines around humps with the line in 12-14 fow. texas rig and carolina rigged various tubes and worms for the deeper water and scum frogs and zulus for the slop. Also caught a few slow rollin spinnerbaits over the weed tops. 12 fow with weeds about 4 feet tall. I was in northeast mn.

You guys are not going to beleive this... particularly you guys that fished the Waconia get together. I fished a tourney on a small south central lake and here are the results. 12-2 man teams. 5 bass bag limit. 1st, 24.7lbs, 2nd, 17.8 lbs, 3rd 17.4lbs, 4 and 5th tied at 13.6, my brother and I 6th with 12.9 lbs 7th with 11.2 lbs... It gets blurry after that but get this, the big fish side money went like this; 5.7lbs, 5.4lbs, 5.0lbs, 4.6lbs, (ours was 4.0 at 19.5 inches). Wow huh? My brother and I caught all ours early b4 8:15am. Then things got sunny and calm. It was fun, then frustrating, then humbling, then rather an aw strucking experiance considering the lake was only around 250 acres... seriously no (Contact Us Please). I look at it as a learing experiance. Deitz, I may have ben able to help you out on the Wac. I personally have caught my best on that lake.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
