What's the fix for loose bolts on Lund Rebel?

FL SNIPER

Question

Question: What's a good fix to avoid keeping bolts from becoming loose from the vibration of hard waves? I'm having some issues with bolts loosening up on seat mounts...and also on some floor flashing around the live well. The seat mount bolts screw into a threaded metal housing. The flashing bolts screw into the wood floor. Would putting some lock tight or silicon caulking on the bolts and then screwing them in tight help with the loosening problem? Thanks for any advice.

loc tite works well when the bolt screws into a metal, but when screwing into a wood it wont work, you can try silicone, but you may just have to periodically tieghten them.

I worked in the window industry for some time and we always used silicone in the hole that each bolt or screw would go into. This was more for water sealing reasons though. I would have to say loc-tite would be more appropriate for this application.

I experienced the same problem with my Rebel when I had it. I solved the problem by coating the screws with marine silicone sealant and then screwing them into place. The silicone acted like an adhesive and remains pliable so I believe it also acts like a shock absorber.
