Hey widetrack,
looks like you can call the Toll free number above to order your single color Angel Eye packages.

Just a note, I heard from several very good LOW anglers that the Hammered Gold Angel Eye was a real hit on LOW last winter. Can anyone else confirm that?

I used the pink and white, and never really
moved off of it. I heard the hammered gold
was very good tho. Imagine that, hammered
gold working on Lake of the Woods. (grin).

To anyone who thinks the Angel Eye is too
big, think again. The Jr is great but the
originial AE is fantastic for Walleyes.

Widetrack, I'm glad your question FINALLY
got an answer. I knew you could buy any
colors you wanted at your favorite tackle
store but, I was unsure about buying bulk
in specific colors.

Hollyberry, Rick

Thanks for the info on ordering single colors...

Hammered gold on Lotw, day in day out will consistently produce fish year around.
Personally I've found the larger AE produces nicer fish and perhaps keeps the pesky 6-8 inchers from bothering you... Although they still will to some extent. The hooks on the large AE also stand up a lot better than the smaller version.

Great hook...

I'll be ordering a few cards worth shortly.

Thanks.

Fiskynut:

Sorry but probably will not happen this year. I may look at this for next year. Several other people have made that same comment. IF I do you have been chosen to field test them for me!

Good Luck

I'm with Widetrack on this one.

Since mid-winter last year the full size Angel Eye was my number one producer. Hammered gold and specifically the Hammered Gold with the red on it was by far the best of all the colors I used.

I will agree on the fish size also, I seemed to be able to lure larger fish up off the bottom. I would dare say my average size fish caught has improved since using this lure. I have made many skeptic people fishing with me beleivers rather quickly.

Like I have said before if they made a larger version I would probably use that. This is usally not much of a finesse lake. Ex. 1 1/2 oz sinker and 12lb test make most walleye fisherman shudder, not here though. It would also double as a great pike lure.

Won't catch me fishing without one on.

I just seen an artical featuring the Angel Eye Spoon in this months
North American Fisherman. There is also a picture of the lure there
but I think they spelled it wrong. There are some other new stuff in
there too.

Yes,
Jeff of Scenic Tackle told me about the article, he was pleased to see it as well.

Sounds like NAFC really loves the Angel Eye as well....

Anyone else read the article in North American Fisherman of NAFC.

Chunkytrout,

I know some guys are using the Angel Eye Jr’s for Rainbow and Brown trout while others are using the Angel Eye Regular series for Lake Trout both thru the ice and trolling. It is my understanding that they are casting the Jr’s or letting the current take them down stream with good results. I am not much of a trout fisherman but I did throw them in a trout pond at a sport show with excellent results.

Well a Goldeye/Mooneye is not a trout, but they have a lot of the same habits and physical characteristics. I have been using the JR's over the past season on them fussy dam Mooneye and I have caught easily thousands on them. The gold and metallic/glow colors have been the best for me.

What I found is you need to swap out the treble hook and replace it with a tiny wide gape Kahle hook for best hook up results on Mooneye and trout.

The jaw of a trout and a Goldeye lends best to this style of hook. I also have good luck on crappie and perch with this style of hook. Especially if your tickling the mud in the deep winter and the fish get fussy.

A tiny Gamakatsue colored circle hook on a FireLine or light 7 strand wire drop leader also works wonders below an Angel Eye JR, or the below the full sized model for bigger game fish.

The Angel Eye is a very good drop and drag rig for perch stuck to the mud. I like stiffer line on the drop link for drop and dragging, as it will not mess up on the main line near as much, the fish do not seam to care. They kick out far enough to the side to get a long drag to entice a wary sumo perch into slurping of the pinched off minnow. (A Great tip for DL in ND folks! wink.gif )

Yup-Yup, great lures, all year long!

Jeff or Rick I purchased the AE Jrs last year but with the poor iceconditions on the east coast I never had the oppotunity to try them. Do you guys bait them at all with perch eyes or mousies during jigging or dead sticking? thanks in advance for the information

I just ordered a 12 pack of Angel eye jr's. I live in central PA and am going to us them on a lake that produces alot of perch and crappie. The fish in this lake like to shut off around noon and turn back on at dinner time. I hope these lures will produce all day long for me. I will let you guys know how they work here on the PA lakes. Thanks for all the great info. even though I am so far away.

Mako,

I normally tip the Angel Eye with either the head of a minnow or a whole minnow depending on the reaction of the fish I see on my locator. I always begin with just the head of a minnow but if I see fish come in and look but not take the lure I will put on a small minnow that is double hooked thru the back.

I have at times also used wax worms or mousies. When using either I will place one on the hook to hang horizontal and two on the hook to hang vertical. Even a slight jigging motion or current causes the vertical baits to act as “flippers”.

For dead sticking try hooking two of the barbs from the treble thru the back of your bait.

I like to bait mine with the front 1/3 or so of an Emerald Shiner. I then take and mash/pinch meat and guts from the remainder of the minnow into the splitrings and swivel that I attach it to, then I wipe my fingers off on the edges of the spoon, depositing the scales and gooo all over it! I also like a peice of florescent vinyl tubing on the shank of the hook, ala scyclops spoon.

Boy is it time already to talk ice fishing? I guess so. I got into the angel eyes late last year and can honestly say they were great on LOW. Copper with red and plain copper, as well as white/blue caught lots of eyes and sauger. I would recommend them any day. Jeff call Stop Light Bait in St Cloud they indicated last year to me they would be interested. As far as anybody in St Cloud carrying them right now, I don't believe there is. Scott S would probably be able to answer that question for the initial poster on the page. it won't be long now, Bill Turck St Cloud

Yes it is that time again already. Hard to believe I know but I for one am looking for a great winter fishing season this year. Last winter just went way to fast and I did not even hardly get a chance to be on the ice. Not going to happen this year!!!

Glad you did well on the Angel Eyes last season. We do have a couple new colors this year, Red Neon Glow, Glow/chartreuse and straight Glow. All colors requested and tried by fisherman last season. These are available in both the Angel Eye Jrs and the Angel Eye.

Thanks for the contact info.

Great idea Rick,

Anyone out there remember the scramble for
AEs and the JRs last winter. It was a
frenzy. A couple of bait stores near Lake
of the woods put out cardboard signs when
they would get a few of Scenic Tackles
finest in the door, they would sell out
in minutes.

Dont be afraid to buy a bunch of these at
this price. Share em with your buddys or
hoard them all yourself. If the demand
drains the supply again this winter you wont
be left out in the cold.

This winter you can stock up early and not
worry later.
