Jim W
In the NE area we had anywhere from 8-10 feet + down. Real low. However, we received a bunch of rain while we were up and watched it rise a foot +Jim W
SCONASOTAN
so what you are saying is that there is no navigating through the "rags" and what used to be 20 fow last year is now 10 fow. Did you launch at deception landing? if so than what are the conditions of that access? If what you are saying is true than there is no way to launch there. I have seen some talk about this on other websites and have only heard of a max of 4-5 feet down. did it go down with this rain they have been getting??? thanks for the info. Smeds
Here's an interesting link for Lac Seul levels ... we're taking off for LS in less than two weeks!http://www.lwcb.ca/pdf/LacSeulGraph2007.06.04.pdf
Jim W
sconasotan,Not sure what area your referring to. I was up in the NE and it was an easy 8-10 feet low. Some spots appeared more.We flew in and noticed dried up bays. Any and all rain helps.I'm sure you'll be fine. Look at it this way. Less water for walleye to hide in.Jim W
Zaraspooks
SCONASOTAN -We launched at Deception Bay on 5/18 and didn't have a problem. The water is definitly low but launching should still be OK. However, we did not run the "Rags" due to the low water. Went a couple miles out of our way but much better than loosing a lower unit.

Lakeside
The water is up a half meter in the last week, now about the 25th percentile (3 out of four years see higher water for this date). Still a long way to go to be where it typically is at the end of June. Wensel - are you going up to Ojibway on the 22nd? If so, we'll pick up any boat parts you loose on the way up. We'll be there June 23 - 30. JRN

Fish Head
Hey Lakeside- How have you been? Our group will be up there from the 26th to the 1st. It looks like there could be some lower units taken out this year.

Lakeside
Hi FishHead. Been good, how about you? We'll be back again this year with the full crew. Happy to say Grandpa will be there again this year. (Guess I could qualify that a bit; Gregg also became a grandfather over the winter, and I again for the third time).I suppose the lower water could lead to more lower unit damage, but it waas two years ago that I lost a skeg (but nothing worse) in relativly high water. So the rocks are always there, just a different set with different water levelsSee you in a few weeks!
LuckBites
I just returned from a floating lodge out of Hudson. The lake was down about 4' when we arrived on 6/2, when we brought the boat back on 6/9 it had risen over 2 feet. It was still rising & might even be back to the regulated level by now...Fishing was good but you might need to explore more as the lake is a couple weeks ahead of schedule. The shiners were spawning last week & many hatches started appearing. The smallies are doing there thing in the rocks & they'll provide great action for a couple more weeks. Deep trolling (20-40') cranks was very good for larger eyes. If it rattles, it will probably catch fish. Pink/chartreuse were my go to colors for plastics & jigs.Good luck! SCONASOTAN
My father-in-law just got back this past Sunday and said similar things. Had some montrous rains and the lake rose 1 and 1/2 feet in the those couple of days. He said the "rags" was maybe a foot on day 1 and not passable. But on Saturday he went through there and there was 2 and 1/2 feet. He said still no houseboats thru there but his 1850 sportfish passed thru. thanks for all the posts, going up in 2 weeks, can't wait! oh ya, the wind and rain didn't effect the fish moods too much as his crew really did well on some wind swept points if he was able to hold with the kicker in the high winds. He said they got lots in the 22-25 inch range with the biggest at 26 1/2".happy fishin

Fish Head
Hey Lakeside, I've been great. Our father/son group is really excited to be going back up there. If anyone is going or has been to Chamberlain Narrows, please post your report when you get back. I'll do the same.
EPD
I have been fishing up near Chamberlain Narrows (CN) for 17 years. A couple things before discussing CN: I checked Canada's water basin report this morning and noticed Lac Seul's water level has increased 5ft in the last month. This is good news as my group has better fishing years with high water levels. Fishing around Chamberlain Narrows is excellent - there are a ton of places to choose from. Our personal experience is Walleye fishing is best in the morning (6AM - 11AM) and in the afternoon from 4PM to 10PM. Our group usually spends the afternoon (11AM - 4PM) fishing for pike/musky and smallmouth bass - we've had great results for Northern and small mouth in this timeframe. Also, small mouth bass fishing has really picked up around CN. 10 years ago we never saw a small mouth bass but now we're having no problems hitting out limits. When you see sand and rocks, there is a great chance of finding smallies. Finally, try to have some people in your group target muskies in the evening between 5PM and 10PM. While we have caught our share of musky in the morning and afternoon, all our lunkers have been caught in the evening. We have caught several muskies over 50" and all but one have been caught in the evening. Good luck on your trip - I will be up there the last week of July. Fish Head
This will be our 4th year going to Chamb Nar for the last week of June. No one in our group has ever caught a smallie. But just last night I was having a beer talking to one of the guys in our group, and he said he is going to spend some time fishing for smallies this year. My son and I will be fishing walleyes during the day and Muskies each evening.
csuram
heys guy not sure where chamberlin narrows is from our camp moosehorn lodge how far is it from there ...really looking for some good pike action this year...
SCONASOTAN
moosehorn I believe is not technically on Lac Seul it is on Abrams or Minnitaki, I can't remember exactly. YOu can get to Lac Seul though and I would estimate that the trip to Chamberlain Narrows would be at least 1 1/2 hours boat ride on a good movin' boat ( 150hp). I have seen the Mooshorn guides up that way before. good luck fishin'
