Dryer venting question #2

A question for you fellas- we have our washer and dryer in a very small laundry room. As it's arranged now, the washer and dryer doors open towards and hit each other. My wife's always complaining about it being a pain in the butt, becuase it's tough to transfer clothes with the doors hitting each other and in the way. I looked into switching the doors on both, so they open the other way. However, you can't do that with the washer and dryer I have.

So... I'm thinking about switching their places. However, this will mean I'll need to run more dryer venting to get it out. I know it's best to have as little venting as possible- right now I have about 1 foot of venting with no angles in it at all-- a straight shot out the back of the dryer and out. Switching them around, I'd have about 5 to 6 feet of venting with two sharp angles in the venting. I assume I can do this with no problem? Or... would I be better off leaving it as it is and letting my wife complain about the set up?

The easiest thing to do is leave well enough alone. However, there is only so much beer on the planet and that's normally not enough to get rid of a nagging woman. grin.gif

5'6 feet of vent with a couple of 90's is not an issue. I recommend solid vent pipe but the junky expandable dump can be used. Many dryers are in basements and they vent more than 5 feet with sharp angles.
