Gadgetman
was in my local auto parts store recently and looking at AGM batteries and was told that I would need a special charger to charge them with. Anybody heard of this before? Will my normal 10 amp deep cycle charger do the job ok?
0 Hookmaster
You may need a new one. The onboard charger I have is a 7 year old Dual Pro. I just checked with the manufacturer and they said it would work OK with all AGMs on the market today. I had a specific question about Cabela's AGMs which have a label on them describing some charger requirements. Try and check with the manufacturer of your charger. 0 "another IT GUY"
you will need to trickle charge using 2amp mode only and will take a long time to charge. Hope this helps!
0 Whoaru99
I disagree. A charger with an AGM curve would be ideal, but not absolutely necessary - nor is a 2A charger a necessity.
0 Gadgetman
What is an "AGM curve" does that mean that my normal charger is good enough or not?
0 MuskieJunkie
I have a optima and a cabelas AGM and I am charging them with a 2 bank Guest 20 amp (10 amp per battery) charger. The guest manual says it's safe for sealed batteries. Am I doing something wrong?
0 Shack
My new smart charger has a selection from wet,gel to agm. I know between gel and wet their is a diffence. I would go with correct chrager for maxium life of battery. The charge cost's as much a battery. I finally laid to rest my 1982 craftsman trickle charger and bought a new one. Good luck!P.S.Still have it though!
0 Surface Tension
You can use your 10 amp deep cycle charger for AGM batteries. Like shachbash said the smart charger is probably the best option but they cost a lot.
