gas line question

Question

I have an Evinrude 15 hp motor and I am having a few problems with it. It will start fine on the first pull, and it will run good for a minute or two, but then it will quit running. When it quits running the gas line bulb is collapsing in on itself. What can be causing this?

OLDER JOHNSONS WHICH SHOULD BE THE SAME AS YOURS FUEL TANKS DO NOT HAVE VENTS THERE ALWAYS IS PREASURE IN THE TANKS IF EVERYTHING IS RIGHT. REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP AFTER YOU MAKE SURE YOUR FUEL LINE IS GOOD IF IT IS REAL OLD JUST REPLACE IT I HAD THE SAME THING ON A 1981 JOHNSON 15 HP . yOU CAN GET REBUILD KITS FOR THE FUEL PUMP BUT i would just get a new one they run about $30.

If the hose is collapsed the fuel pump should be working.

Either the fuel line is one backwards, arrow on the bulb points towards the engine. Or the tank isn't venting. Don't know what tank you have. Some have a vent screw on the cap, some caps have no screw but vent. If you sure the line is on right then crack the cap and see if thats where the problem is.
