Well guys, I improved on my channel cat last weekend! Didn't have to go to the Red River either. grin.gif

31" x 18" weighing 11lbs

Fish hit cut sucker on a circle hook off the channel side of a snagpile. Should have picked up a few more channels that night but they weren't steamrolling the circle hook like this one did.

With Shamu on the board and this little upgrade for me, we shot way up in the standings this weekend. My 2nd grade math puts us somewhere in the 2nd place neighborhood with 8 fish making up our point total. WooooHoooo!

PierBridge-

I'm calling you out! Quit catching them dang 30lb+ Flatheads and get a channel cat on the board! LOL! If you can get something in the 5-7lb range, thats going to run us up another 40 some points.

That's funny because we thought that was you.....especially when I heard "something something...dtro"

and we even seen your boat the night before...... but neither of us could remember.

I don't know why grin.gif

How awesome?

4 channel cats including (1) 10 pounder and (1) 13 1/2 pounder. So it was a really good channel cat night. No flats on Saturday night though. Not even a bite that resembled a flathead bite. frown.gif

Darren and I were arguing about who was in that boat. Now we know. smile.gif

OK, so I've been channel cat fishing about 2-3 times a week for the past couple months and still cannot upgrade my 24"x14.5" channel cat. I've witnessed several 25"s a few 26"s a 28" and one that went 10.5lbs (no length). They've been caught on each and every side of me, but sooner or later my date will come with one of those bruisers.

I'm going flattin this Saturday evening on Pool 8 and hope to have a fun evening. Man I can see how this catfishing (especially flatheads) is contageous! I've been excited about this trip for about a month!

Insomnia flash back to my biggest Cat... grin.gif

Great job catnipmn and you too Smamu I had feeling you were going to produce as well or better then other late signing free agents added.

Now will still need to upgrade to have a chance I'm still struggling on the channels although Hanson has me on the right track and motivated.

Good Luck to ALL KOTC's participants.

We're quickly running out of room to improve without sticking a couple "fish of a lifetime".

Looking at the #'s, Tyler has lots of room to improve his flathead & Shamu has lots of room to improve his flathead. I need a big arse flathead now to get any kind of upgrade, but its possible. I think Catnip & Gary are done in the flathead category, unless that "fish of a lifetime" is ready to munch.

For channels... still room left but now we are talking some nice fish. I'll be on the Red for 4 days next week (Cat's Incredible Tournament) so I've got my fingers crossed for a few 20 pounders.

Keep working that channel cat technique Gary, it worked well enough for another 29", 10 pounder for Cat League on Friday night. Also picked up a 28" for my partner. Remember, they are called "channel" cats for a reason. LOL! grin.gif

I hear you on the flathead Hanson. I've been out twice in the last month, so I'm giving it a go. Of those times I've had one really nice flattie bite on a bullie, but that's it.

I caught a channel this past Sat/Sun that was 1/2 a point shy of an upgrade. That would have helped, but I'm still confident I'll get a channel in the 10# range for an upgrade.

Here is the fish that just missed an upgrade.

ty_cat2.jpg

27.5"x15.5" = 43pts. (My current channel is 38.5)

9lbs 1 oz

Nice fish anyways.

I'm not sure when my next flattie outting will be, but hopefully soon.
