Rozman
I bought an aluminum boat and the old decals are like petrified to it. What's the best way to get them off? Thanks
0 iffy
Heating up decals usually aids in the removal. Try a hair blow dryer or a heat gun. Aplastic scraper helps also.

0 Bassboy1645
Roz, I remodled my old boat last winter. Are you talking watercraft stickers or the brand name decals? I ground my alumacraft stickers off with a wire brush and then sanded the whole boat to repaint as a camo duck boat. I used a putty knife to scrape the registration stickers and numbers off. hope I could help.
0 cjac
For $4 bucks a bottle that stuff called Goo Gone really does the trick for me! Worth a try before taking a wire brush to any paint and metal. Maybe take a razor blade and gently score the decals first and let the "goo" seep in underneath it. Chris
0 fishin58
I tried the goo gone and I had zero results on removal..I stuck with the plastic razor and a little heat.
0 Rozman
They were the old registaration/ID # stickers. I heated them up and scraped them off. I am planning on painting my boat camo this summer. Any advice would be great. It is a 14 foot Lund/silver aluminum boat. No paint on it. 0 theoilman
Great, you got the decal/vinyl portion off. Most leave a portion of their glue/adhesive behind. The cheapest thing to use to get the glue off is mineral spirits or paint thinner, keeping a rag very wet, and a lot of elbow grease.
