Yamaha F115 oil plug

I just changed the oil on my 2006 F115 motor for the first time. During the process of taking the oil plug out and trying to catch the oil at the same time I didn't pay attention to the plug and if there is suppose to be a rubber gasket to seal the plug against. The plug had a aluminum flat washer on it. Is this what seals the plug, the manual said to replace the gasket?

Can't speak for that engine particularily, but my car uses a flat metal "crush washer". You need to replace it each time you change the oil. Any auto parts store carries them.

I would assume that is what they mean when they state to replace the gasket.

The flat washer is the seal. I just put the old one back on the last two times. I did use a torque wrench to tighten the nut.

If you are reusing a crush washer that is supposed to be replaced every time, you might use a touch of silicone 'form-a-gasket' on it (just a very light smear on both sides) or some other non-hardening sealant.

I have a 1999 F100 Yamaha and replace the aluminum o-ring every 2nd or 3rd oil change. I always use a torque wrench and have never had a leak.

I better buy some crush washers because I have never replaced any. Just a rough estimate but just on my vehicles alone I must have changed oil around 200 times over the years.

LOL. In my opinion, the 25 cents is cheap peace of mind. A lot of places will just give you one if you ask.
