Lac Seul in june

Recommended Posts

Man, my Lakemaster chip (and I cant remember which one it was) didnt do that well at all. In fact, it didnt even have the bay that Mahkwa was in. When we drove into that bay, we were driving the boat over "land". I wonder if mebbe I had a MN one and there is a Canada one?

i believe the chip my buddy has is a chip for Lac Seul....and if I remember correctly it might even have been for the hudson area of Lac Seul...not positive on that but I seem to remember him mentioning that there were maybe othre chips for other areas of the lake......I will try to get the brand name and region chip he has....worked very well for us last year!!

I used the navonics on the Hudson side last year for Lac Seul, it worked great for navigation purposes and it does have a few hazards marked, The chip is the Canada chip is all that i can recall it being named, did show all the navigation bouys and would run a red or blue line from bouy to bouy, I know i could have ran as far up as I wanted to on the lake, but I fish mostly the Webster Bay Area, as far as contour lines go though the paper maps were just as good, Great fishing up there Heres a pic that cost me the five bucks for the next fish!!! Cody- you have been up there every year for like 20 years now correct??.....$80-$100 that is not bad when you think about how much it will cost for a day use on the water......every time up the cost per day gets smaller and you still have the chip!!!! the water levels do change from year to year but the hazards and the contours of the lake stay generally the same.......Maybe make the guys in the boat with you chip in $10 a piece.......It comes in very nice when looking for areas or open water structure......alot of structure out there.....last year we were fishing an area and a local drove right past us and set up in an area in the middle of the lake about a 1/2 mile away. We watched him catch a few fish and looked at our GPS and we noticed he was on a big rock bar.....went there the next day and caught a few fish....never would have known what he was fishing there without the chip!!

we use the navionics canada chip as well and love it. base it this way... are you happy fishing where you have in the past and not want to venture to any new spots... and how much is your prop or lower unit worth to replace if you hit something????? in my opinion, if you go annually, the "insurance" of the price of the chip, is worth the opposite possible repair cost of prop replacement or rebuild of lower unit or worse. Not that a chip will prevent you from hitting something, but it can surely help! Happy fishing.... I have 30 days til I leave for Lac Seul!!!!! Doing curls now so my elbow doesn't hurt from so many hook sets!!!!!!!!

Alright you guys, you are giving me a complex here. I aint gonna charge my dad for the thing, so that is out, but a good idea. If I could divide the payments up over the 20 years, that would work great. I guess I am being too cheap. Dadgumit, where does a guy draw the line?? I better not ask the wife about it first....

Oh, wait. I am out of the woods this year, it is Dad's turn to take his boat. Mebbe by next year they will come down a smidgin. And you guys had me talked into it too!

Vaughn is awesome. There are alot of fish everywhere but we hammered the heck out of them down there. We trolled over 4 miles of lake shore 2 days in a row down there and never turned around and probably never went more than a 100 yds without a bite. The islands in the main lake hold lots of fish too. Vaughn doesn't open to fishing until the end of june. Like mentioned though there is lots of good areas to fish. Navionics has a couple chip options for you I found them to be helpful.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
