Slyster
My charger has two settings... without going outside to look.. I think they are 2 amp charge and 15 amp charge...What is the difference (besides 2 amp taking longer!)... is one better than the other for getting the best charge and keeping the battery healthy? 0 Surface Tension
Use the 15 amp on you deep cycle battery, it'll cycle down to nothing once the battery is charged. Some guys will use the 2 amp for maintaining the battery during long term storage, personally once I charge a battery I take it off the charger and will do a maintenance charge every few months. Small batteries like motorcycle batteries use the 2amp setting.

0 Giant_Jackpot
Be careful about using this type of charger for ‘maintaining’ a battery. If it does not automatically lower it’s voltage to 13.2 – 13.6 volts then you run the risk of ruining the battery if it is left on the battery for long periods. ST is correct in that you should disconnect the charger during storage. The beauty of the ‘on board’ 3 stage chargers is that you can leave them connected to the battery for as long as you want without hurting the battery.
