Back from Table Rock

Our trip to Table Rock was a lot of fun - awesome to fish for bass so early in the year. Got to fish under lots of different weather conditions and took the longest run (45 mins) of my fishing experience. That is one HUGE lake - gives me a much greater appreciation for the pounding the pros get making their runs during tournaments. First 2 days were hot (75-85 degrees and bluebird skies with some wind), next day was transition with severe thunderstorm and tennis ball sized hail, then temps fell like a ton-o-bricks - temps in the 30's with heavy NNW wind for the rest of the trip with bluebird skies and some clouds at the end of the last day. Water temps went from mid-60's down to mid-upper 50's.

Did not catch as many fish as we hoped/expected but still everyone caught at least a dozen but it was tougher than we expected. Top bag in the 125 boat tournament on second day was 19 pounds. I did manage to get a "Grand Slam" - Largemouth, Smallmouth, Kentucky, and Meanmouth. Meanmouth turned out to be the last fish I caught on the last day. Very strange looking fish to be sure but vicious attitude. Wish I had taken a picture but was just too cold to mess with it at the time.

No huge fish but several were caught in the 5-6 pound class.

Everyone who went wants to go again next year so watch for another open invitation during the winter months! We pretty much has the lake to ourselves after last Sunday.

As they say, a good time was had by all. cool.gif

Daze... your killing me... this last week has had to be the hardest on me over the whole winter, I thought for sure I would be lipping some bass by now on the river down around lower pool 4 by now, but this last weeks weather (and the upcoming forecast) have absolutely sucked! Congrats on the good trip... hopefully some year I can go crazy.gif

Sorry Dietz - did not take a single picture the whole week for some reason - very unlike me. Did take a cell phone video of the tennis ball-sized hailstorm though.

River rat - I'm with you on that one too - all I could think of coming home was how soon would I be able to get on Pool 2 and bang some banks. Not sure which is worse - getting a taste and then having to wait or just plain waiting....probably a "grass is greener" deal I guess.

After fishing on such a big reservoir for a week it becomes very clear why pattern fishing is so critical - there is so much water that it can overwhelm you quickly unless you can narrow it down with patterns, etc.

Aside from fishing the worst part was watching summer disappear as we drove north - all the leaves were fully out, grass green, flowers, tree frogs singing, insects, etc down near the Rock.

Yeah Ive been out 5 times now, mostly for sewer trout, but the last time i tried your spot (the one you and Hawgtide went to last year) and they weren't in there yet, that or they had plenty of shad to eat, man there was shad everywhere back in there, I was taking em out with my TM prop grin.gif

According to the guages its up about 1.5-2 feet since I was there, all I know is I had to take the long way around and its a haul! Kinda eary being in flat water and feeling the hull lift over the extremely shallow parts crazy.gif. I think I'll stick to lower pool 4 from now on, its almost a wash when I figure in gas for the boat getting all the way there! Lower pool 4 I can pretty much trolling motor or am very close to good fishing areas without wasting 14 gallons of gas there and back.

LOL - there is a bit o' "pucker factor" shocked.gif when we run the couple of miles from the main channel up to the bridge near the outlet for Moore Lake - 18" - 2' fow at 65 mph is always interesting....not so much with HT's boat but with the Nitro I usually ride in.

Perhaps we'lls ee you in there one day!

Yeah, mines a jet to, Im used to the lift in current, you can "see" whats underneath, but in flatwater its a whole new experience, especially never being back there. I would think that ride in a prop boat would not be fun. I more than likely won't be back there anytime soon... if this weather doesn't clear up Im just gonna take a header out my bedroom window crazy.gif Ohh wait its only 1 story up it might not work grin.gif.

Ikes -

Not sure what tourney you are referring to confused.gif If you mean the trip to Table Rock, it was just something I organized and we just flat-out fished all day - no formal competition although there were @ 225 tournament boats on there the first day we fished. The lake is so big you hardly noticed them. Am planning to put together another trip next spring. Probably March 29th - April 5th which would be roughly the same week but after Easter next year. Might be the week before that though. Already have three additional boats interested smile.gif.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
