Bobb-o
take some deer hair and tie a poofball, they work great when the dogwood seeds are falling, otherwise a royal elk hair caddis works for topwater. Under the surface just aboot any nymph around size 14 will work.

Muddog
Start by reading the book called, (Now this is funnie) Carp on the fly. Yes. that is the name of the book. You can get it at Cabela's. Rust color or green. A #8 rod would work nice. It can dubble for bass poppers too. Temple fork outfitters Professional Series rods get my vote. DEADhead
anybody know of some good sucker patterns for early spring?
Cooter
Midge pattern - I haven't tried but that would be my first choice early in this cold weather. They are coming off the river by my house.
Bobb-o
i have done real well with a size 14 prince nymph tied with a little bit of orange yarn at the head. Dont know if this helps with the attraction, but it does help alot with the visual
so haaad
Yarn flies will work well for both carp and suckers, especiially in the spring. Light colored yarn flies work great when the Cottonwood seeds are falling. Carp will feed on these at no end at times. So you can actually sight fish for them in shallow water. Redneck bonefishing!
