Ice Out On Esox and Lower Manitou

Recommended Posts

I will have a better idea once we get through easter weekend. The snow and ice were melting pretty good early last week, but the temps have dropped and we have about 1 inch of snow on the ground and the weather channel is calling for cool weather through the weekend.

Barker Bay is completly off concerning the stretch, I was up yesterday trying to get into Camp Manitou and it is still very stiff. Esox lake is open, but as soon as you get to the white juggs entering the stretch from esox there is about a foot of ice.

I have moved all of the people we have booked for this upcoming weekend over to Happy Landing on pipestone lake. I am going to try to get back up to camp manitou on sunday or monday, but no earlier unless we get alot of rain and wind this week. It will be another 3-5 days after the stretch goes out before the main lake will go. If you are trying to get to barker, you won't get their until wed/thurs. next week.

I talked to a pilot today and he said Pipestone is ice free except for a little ice in the northwest arm, clearwater should be open by wednesday.

ice went out May 2nd. We were able to get up to the "Weather Station" Camp, and had a great outing. The Trout were hitting hard off shore, it was great. And for the record i would suggest the "Weather Station" it is a great resort.
