Question for I-Pod owners and I-tunes.

Here is the short version of my questions.

About a year ago I bought my wife a 2GB I-Pod Nano and she loves it. She has very different taste in music so I dont use it very much...and she thinks I will lose it....so its sorta off limits.

She wants to get me a IPod for my birthday...but we have questions about having two Ipods and only one computer. My main question is this....can I down-load music from her I-tune account...these would be songs she has already bought and they are stored on our computer? Also, would I be able to download songs from her I-tunes account onto my I-Pod or would that just screw things up?

Someone told us that I would have to open my own I-tune account and we couldnt download from each other's account..etc. Thanks for any info.

there are directions on the itunes HSOforum on how to use more than one Ipod off of one version of iTunes.

you can manage your music on her itunes account. in the itunes, there is a Music Library, where all the music is located. you can create a playlist for you machine, or multiple playlists in Itunes and (here is the Key part) when you plug in your ipod, select the option to manually manage the music on your ipod, that way you can select the playlists that go onto your ipod, she can do the same on her ipod. My wife has a 4 gig, I have a 20, my library is about 32 gigs... Get a portable external harddrive to back up all your music..... I know this is really short, but to answer you question, yes you can run two (I think maybe more) ipods out of the same itunes list. and yes you will be able to use her music from itunes.....

Hope this helps, I know it is not extremely detailed, but when you plug your new ipod into the computer, it will ask you if you want to automatically update it or manually, select manually manage it, and you will be fine.

Not knowing how much music you were gonna use or need, but I don't think there is much difference in price between the 4 gb nano and the 30 gig ipod.....

There are rumors on "google" where there are free programs that'll allow you to work around using i-Tunes all together.

I spent the better part of yesterday searching around their web-site and I couldnt find the answers to my questions....and now I just double checked and I see there is a FAQ section that did answer my question. Wasted a few hours yesterday....found it in just a few minutes today...GO figure.

I think its about 50.00 dollars difference....but this is a gift from my wife....I will pass it along to her...but I think the bank is pretty much limited out on this one. Thanks for the info.

Just bought my youngest a 4GB Ipod for $180 something. Was talking to a neighbor tonight and he bought an off brand 8GB that plays movies also at Costco for $140! I'd check out Costco. And, yes, both my boys use one Itunes account.
