Line Color

Does anyone have preference in line color. I've been told that green will out produce clear. I've always used clear and never thought of changing to green. should I?

I try to match the line to the water. I fish alot of stained water so i use a green that blends in better. But if you are fishing very clear water I can see benefits with going with a clear line.

I don't think there are any hard rules to line color selection but this is atleast how I decide what to use.

I asked that question of some bass pros specifically about our MN clear waters and they all said you can use any color as long as it is Lo-Vis Green.

Flourocarbon is always a good choice too as for pure visibility factor - might not be best choice for some applications though.

I've heard a lot of chatter lately about the benefits of red line. Appearantly it disappears better under the water because the red doesn't reflect the sunlight at all.

Anyone out there experimented with red fishing line, like the Cajun line?

YES it works awesome!!! I dont see any diff over clear line but it esp works in red stained waters up here like vermillion or white iron. Ive also had great sucees with it in the soup green lakes back home in southern mn and through the ice this yr in the "ultra" clear blue waters.. I dont know about the sunlight deal but it does seem to dissapear under a varitety of water conditions.
