0 loosegoose
Yes you do need a regulator at the heater. Enjoy your Hot Dawg, I've had one for years and haven't had a lick of trouble with it
0 youngie22
Nice units, they are having some good sales right now that I have seen, It is almost spring and no one wants them taking up space, the time to buy is now, rather than September. Sure love mine, set it up w/ digital programable t-stat.

0 Bigsmitty
If your Natural gas meter on the side of the house is already set to 1/2 psi. then you wont need a regulator. If it is set at 2 lbs psi then you will need one. If you go look at it it it should be marked. Another way to check is to look at the furnace for a regulator installed up stream on the gas line. 0 slotlimit
What is a good price to pay for one of these? I have a 2 car garage that I'm thinking of putting one of these in.
0 captainshane
THE LINE COMING INTO MY FURNACE ROOM HAS 2 PSI WRITTEN ON IT.SLOTLIMIT I BOUGHT A 60,000 BTU FOR $425. I HAVE A LARGE 3 STALL.IT WAS A TOSS UP FOR THE 75,000. MY HOUSE AND GARAGE ARE INSULATED WITH THE EXPANDING FOAM SO I SHOULD BE OK WITH THE 60,000 BTU HEATER. SOME WEB SITE HAVE A CALCULATION TABLE TO DETERMINE THE RIGHT HEATER FOR THE GARAGE.THANKS GUY,SHANE
0 youngie22
Bigger is better for garages heaters, usually you want heat now, Not in a few hours. Lots of wasted btu's I think. I have extra deep 3 car garage. 75,000 is about right. Would never want any smaller. Depending on what you buy, and what you want, 3-7 hundred bucks. Try a local ferguson dealer, best price I have seen, and last I heard they were trying to dump some before spring. Now there is a new "sealed combustion" unit that is supossed to be much better for efficency.
0 PerchJerker
I have an oversized 3 car garage, I heat it with a 45000 BTU heater. Works great. Here's why you DON'T want an oversized heater. About the only thing that will go out on them is the ignition module, and the more a heater cycles on and off the faster they will go out. A bigger heater will cycle more often than a smaller heater. I keep my garage between 40 - 45 degrees, can warm it up to 65 in less than 20 minutes on the coldest days. It takes less than 5 minutes before you can feel warmer air moving around. I was originally thinking 60k or 75k btus but was talked out of it by people that know this stuff.
0 slotlimit
Don't mean to sound stuipid but the only Ferguson dealer I have ever heard of is Massy Ferguson. Could you be a little more clearer.
0 slotlimit
Perch,45,000 is what I think would do the job. Where did you purchase and what do Hot Dawg heaters usually run or what ever brand you have?
0 slotlimit
I did a search on Hot-Dawg heaters and according to Modine the nearest dealer is in New Hope 100 miles away from me. I did find another brand called Mr. Heater at Northern Tool and the 45,000 btu unit is on sale for $365.00 and it comes with a 10year warranty. Anyone know anything about these heaters? It also comes with the ventalation kit. Or should I just spend the extra $80.00 for the Hot Dawg?
0 captainshane
FERGASON IS A PLUMBING SUPPLY HOUSE. THE GENRAL PUBLIC WILL PAY A LITTLE MORE THEN THE PLUMBING CONTRACTORS. I DID SOME SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET. LOOKED AT MR HEATER, THE HOT DAWG, AND LOOKED AT REZNOR. I DO NOT KNOW MUCH ABOUT MR HEATER AND I KNOW PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE HOT DAWG SO I WENT WITH IT. THE WARRANTIES ARE ABOUT THE SAME ON ALL OF THEM. 10 YEAR/2 YEARSHANE
0 PerchJerker
I got mine at Home Depot, I think it is called a Hamilton. As far as we can tell it is exactly identical to Modines, every part and component inside it looks identical to the Hot Dawg. I think the Heater itself was $400 or so, the flue parts and gas parts are extra.
