fishinchicks
Ok, guys. Here is the deal. My favorite driver will not change, but I need a back up to cheer for when my favorite has another bad week. What I am looking for are the reasons why you are a fan of a particular driver. This is not meant to be negative by any means - I don't want bashing of any one else's opinion - my kids do that enough! I already asked my hubby, but I got the same answer as when I ask what shoes to wear with an outfit "whatever one you want."
Mike89
always have liked Tony S. and I like where could go. My choise all the way. There are others, but I'm still waiting too.Mike89
TNFL
How about whoever you think is cute. If that is not already your #1. Pick who is the second cutest. That seems to be how most gals pick.Or try to pick someone that many people don't like just so you can get in der craw.
fishinchicks
I don't usually pick on appearance, proven by the fact I like Kenny Schrader. My hubby and I have discussed different reasons for liking different drivers, but I wanted to hear all your opinions. It is a lot easier to learn that way, then to look up all their stats one by one. My attention span isn't all that long.
harvey lee
I would pick Kevin harvick. He is on a very good team with great equipment and he races very hard. He has great teammates and they race well together. Kevin is at the top of his game right now in both cup and Busch. He is very serious about winning. he works very well with his crew chief and that is a must. He also gets along well with his pit crew.
jbell1981
I don't think it is as easy as saying "I am going to start to root for _______". I didn't just wake up one morning and say I am going to like so and so. When I started to get into racing my step dad was a Big E. fan and so that is who I started to like. But after time of watching races, interviews and other stuff I determined who I like and who I don't like. So I guess what I am trying to say is, just keep watching and you will find the drivers that you want to be a fan of.

fishinchicks
I have been really following NASCAR for the past 5 years or so, and before that, I was a more casual fan. I know that it takes more than just deciding who to cheer for. That is why I am asking why you all like the drivers you do. I am looking at this from the stand point of - my driver is getting kinda old for driver's standards, and I don't expect him to be racing full time in a couple of seasons. I want time to watch others more seriously so I can choose wisely. I can tell you a ton about my favorite driver, but the others, not so much. I know I have certain opinions of some after hearing driver interviews on the track, but that may not be a true reflection of who they are. Take for instance the reply above about Harvick. I really don't have a ton of respect for him, based on a couple of interviews. However, I did not know about his working relationship with his team, his pit crew, etc. That is what I am looking for. PierBridge
Quote: I don't usually pick on appearance, proven by the fact I like Kenny Schrader. If kenny is your guy I would suggest 3 or 4 alternate drivers....
fishinchicks
Ok, I'll admit it. My number one driver is Mikey, and number two is Schrader. Hubby's number one is Martin, and our girls like Shrader, Gordon and Johnson. We are a pretty diverse household! We hosted a Daytona 500 party, and invited the family we went to Florida with last year. So, that meant we had fans of Waltrip, Schrader, Martin, Edwards, Gordon, Johnson, and Dale Jr. all in the same room - and no one was hurt! With the crashes and bad car packages for the Daytona race, I baked and decorated a race car cake for one of the kids who had a birthday the week after the race (I am the coolest aunt now!). I have a feeling Mikey will move into more of a car owner role in the next couple of years, and Schrader will probably hang it up in the near future as well. I could probably go with someone that General Mills sponsors, since my sister can get autographs and stuff, but that seems pretty shallow.
Wade Joseph
I base my decision on how the particular driver reacts to situations, not so much how many wins he has. Say for instance a particular driver complains about how everyone is beating and banging and bump drafting one week, and goes on and on about "they are gonna kill someone out there". Then he wrecks someone because he couldn't pass him cleanly for the win. That driver goes to the top of my S--T list. Secondly, the driver must race for a team I can support. I am not a big Chevrolet fan as I have been raked over the coals by two different dealers with two different cars, so I cannot support a driver that drives a chevy. SO with that said, Mark Martin, a class act and cleanest driver on the track, is no longer on my "A" list because he is now driving a chevy. I will say however, I was rooting for him the last lap of Daytona this year.Hope thats more of the type of answer you were looking for.

Well you must not be interested in winning drivers. I think maybe kyle petty would be good for you. He seems like a nice guy with his charity work and all. bubs
some of the drivers that I like are not from watching them in the cup races but watching them before they started runnig cup. It is there driving style first that catches my eye, but the biggest thing is how they act off the track. how they handle incedents on the track if they whine about stuff. how they talk about their team. How arrogant they sound. I like alot of dirvers guys that win alot and guys that seem to always finish in the back. I also dislike alot of drivers, and owners. NAPAFISH
2 time Daytona 500 winnerI enjoy rooting for the drivers who seem more like regular joes. Jr. Kenseth Burton {either one} Martin. I tend to dislike the Hollywood Guys- Gordon, Johnson, Harvick, Dumbo and Shrub. I only root for Mikey for promotional purposes.
