Im looking to upgrade my musky reel this spring. Right know I have an ambassaduer C5, I got a 300 dollar gift card to gander and was wondering if the Calcutta would be a good choice.

400B is a very good reel. I am liking the calcuta's more and more since the baits that I throw are getting bigger and bigger. Overall it is very solid constuction and the gears will last a long time. If you want to spend a $100 more get the TE which has even better gears. Either way, it will last you a long time.

I switched over to Calcutta TE 300s (I like smaller reels) and I am very happy with them. Remember not only do I use those reels but clients that have never used a baitcaster before use them and not on bit of trouble other then a wicked backlash every now and then.

I think the Abu's are good entry level reels or the occasional muskie fisher. I moved to the Calcutta 400B last year. Its worth every penny if you fish a lot. Smooth as butter.

I bought a Cardif 400 last spring and used it pretty hard all summer. I am fairly happy with the smoothenss but the cast control is fairly poor for casting the big hogs. At the end of the season the cast control was so worn out that I had to crank it down tight for most luers. I sent it in for warranty but I wish I had something different.

i will be going into my third year with 4 400b's. i fish really hard throughout the year and from buring bucktails in the summer to casting pounders in the fall/winter....i have yet to have a single problem with them. i love them and wouldnt switch for anything.

some of the best reels that money can buy. I have had others, but this baby is going to last for a long time, and your going to have one of the best reels on the market. Casting can be a problem, but getter dialed in, your going to be very happy with the performance of the reel.
