Sugar Lake

Is this lake worth the drive from Apple Valley? Looks like there are some nice reed beds in this lake from looking at a map. I'm thinking there must be a good late summer/early fall bite on this lake.

I don't need any spots or hot lures tips on this lake, I just want to know how you guys do on this body of water.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

Brian

Sugar is a good lake, I caught my first ski on Sugar. I would suggest that this lake is best on quiet days it's close enough that lots of guys hit it, I know some local guys fish it at night quite a bit. Not real difficult to figure out where to fish, 2 access' both decent.

I used to fish this lake quite a bit, always saw a fair number of fish...when Kirby Pucket was still alive and living in MN I would run into him every once in a while at the landing. He was a great guy and LOVED to talk Muskie fishing.

I would never go there on a weekend in the summer. Week days early morning and nights is the only time I will ever go there again. Too many lunatics, jet skiers, water skiers, and muskie fishers on weekends.... One tip is to downsize your lures....

He must have gotten the bug somewhere, I know someone who knew him and said his whole garage was filled with muskie rods, and handmade one of a kind lures. Maybe your talk turned him to the good side of the force.
