Best tournaments near the Metro for Noobies

74mph

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I have been bass fishing for years and decided that I am going to fish some tournaments this year. I want to do something more for fun than anything just to get some experience and see what its like to actualy fish in a tournament. I am fairly new to the area and could use any advice about where to look for upcoming tourneys or any advice as to what would be the best starters.

I typically fish lakes like Minnetonka, White Bear, Forrest Lake, and a bunch of other small lakes around the north metro.

Please help me out if you can I am open to almost anything. Thanks guys.

Andy

74? was that gps?

sounds like you're a boater.

Our club is a lot of fun, with some pretty good sticks.

All our boaters are really good friendly fisherman.

If you're a boater then we could add a non-boater too. We have 10 boaters now so the club is not too big.

If you have interest, contact me at [email protected]

Yes that was 74 on the iFinder H2o, I am looking at getting a lowrance gps/sonar this year but have to find the $$ somewhere. The actual spedo on the boat was bouncing all over between 70 and 76. It was a windy day with the wind to our backs, the boat just got to a point where it felt like it was flying over the waves, definently flying more then boating. I always thought I would hit the all time high on smooth water, but chop is the way to go.

So yes I am a boater, nice boater too as of this year and thats partly why I am ready to join a club or hit some tourneys. I will get ahold of each of you guys individualy who give me some contact info and I will figure out which one will work the best for me.

Thanks for the help. Im excited for some fun competitive fishing this year and hopefully I will learn a lot too. Im sure I will get schooled. confused.gifwink.gif

ocf- contact the MN B.A.S.S. federation. And see which clubs are nearest you. 99.5% of the clubs in minnesota are boater heavy. Which means that often times guys with boats have to leave theirs at home to be a non-boater with someone else. Most clubs are looking for non-boaters.

I dont know if this was said before but you could get into a weekly night league. There are allot of leagues that fish different lakes on all night of the week. Classic Bass has some on there, just something else to look into!!! It give you the tournament fell but with allot of fun involved.

The MN BASS Federation has a list of all the Jr Clubs and events for the state - two years ago two kids from our club actually went to the national Jr Classic in Pittsburgh and fished it. Didn't win but was incredible experience.

Check out the HSOforum and contact the youth director.
