Cleaning oil off drill exhaust?

How do I get the oil stains off of my ice drill? I have a Jiffy STX 8" and it keeps spitting oil out of the exhaust. Wondering how I could clean it and also how I can stop that?

Ever since I have been using smokless oil, I don't have that problem.

I use Amsoil Saber Professional 100/1 synthetic and it has very little exhaust residue. The walls in my ice house are white and don't show any black spots from drilling.

Warm soapy solution of dawn dish soap...

Additional help to eliminate exhaust fouling: These little hard working 2-cycle engines are meant to be run one way, Flat-Out, Full Throttle. If you run one at idle or low throttle too long, you will get exhaust fouling, even with AMSOIL Saber Professional, or ALL other oils either.

This problem shows up worst in string cutters. If you just stroll along at idle or just pulling the throttle a little, it will give you problems. Warm it up a half throttle until it will take full throttle, then go to work. If you can't work as fast as the machine, you have too big a machine for your job.

You can clean the exhaust with hot water and dish soap and a brush.

Let dry thourghly before reassembly.

Then switch to Amsoil 100:1.

Thanks guys. I didn't know you could clean it off w/ simple soap and water. I'll have to try that. So all you have to do is take it off and clean it off w/ soap and water with a brush? Then fully leave it dry? Didn't think it would be that easy. Thanks though. I'll try and use that aimsoil. Seems like it comes highly recommended.

When running the auger, I do leave it run itself for about 5 minutes. But dang thing, by the time I look at it, its streaking oil all over. I'll try to let it warm up a little longer before running it at full throttle. Thanks for the tips!

I dont think 5min warm up is required I would think 2 would be more than enough at 2 min it seems like forever
