I just read the story on NASCAR.c and here is a small part of it. He will race the backup car the the primary is long gone.

The confiscated car and the parts related to the violations will be transported to the NASCAR Research and Development Center in Concord, N.C., for further inspection.

NASCAR said the investigation of the confiscated car is ongoing.

NASCAR cleared Waltrip's back-up No. 55 Camry to participate in Wednesday's two practices for Thursday's Gatorade Duel qualifying races, but it never left the garage. Pemberton said at 6:15 p.m. ET the car had not yet cleared inspection

Might be a tough race in a car with no practice on it.

Mikey knew nothing.

Waltrip quote.

"This is not the action of an organization, manufacturer or a sponsor. This was an independent act done without the consent or authorization from me or any of my executive management team"

Reports are Waltrip will fire Crew Chief David Hyder.

Mikey is full of #%$@!!

He has no option but to make it look good and fire Hyder. He has to save some face with Yota and NAPA. If he didn't know he isn't being to involved with HIS team then! I'm sure NAPA is just giddy over their decision to go to MWR. He isn't even an "also ran".

This is just the tip of the iceburg that will soon sink that team! Making the 500 isn't even realistic anymore for him. I haven't been this happy since they parked Havoc a few years ago!!

The 55 is a lock for the bottom 35........AGAIN!!!

Mikey sure hasn't been his chipper self the past few days. I say he knew about it. Dosen't matter anyways because he made it which in itself is to bad since I am sure he will cause another crash in the race, only this time he will probably take out some real good cars.

I see Mikey and his team turned over the "foreign substance" to NASCAR that they tried to use during qualifying. I liked Mikey prior to this, but this dejected, depressed, poor me Mikey that has been giving interviews just make me angry. He acts like he was a victim here, and he was one of the perpetrators.

Toyota issues warning to teams: Robin Pemberton, NASCAR's vice president for competition, was emphatic this [the #55 infraction and penalty] was a team issue and not a Toyota issue. While embarrassed over the incident, Toyota officials insisted they would maintain a relationship with MWR. "This is not the way you want to enter NASCAR's Nextel Cup Series by any means," said Jim Aust, the president and CEO of Toyota Racing Development. "For this to happen to him is extremely disappointing and extremely disappointing to Toyota. ... He has certainly apologized to just about anybody that would be associated with his organization. He's beside himself with what's happened." Toyota isn't resting on an [Waltrip] apology. Company officials are expected to send a letter out to all Toyota teams next week stating Waltrip's organization has used two of the company's three strikes. The next team that crosses the line will face the loss of the manufacturer's support. Lee White, the senior vice president for TRD, said TRD worked with NASCAR throughout the process. "I can honestly tell you from an ethics standpoint and integrity, along with character and honesty, those things are paramount in our company," he said. "We hold ourselves to a high standard and we hold our teams to high standards. We hope we've picked the right ones."(

I am not saying he tried but, the move to slide up between Jr and Stewart was a lame move. I suppose he was afraid to lose the draft.

If you had the chance to listen to talk of the spotter at that time he stated that they were lined up outside of Mikey and that there was a small "clear" spot in there. As soon as Mikey heard the word clear he moved up. I have to defend him on this move since they drive using their mirrors and spotters more so than looking out the windows.

How can anybody say "They know" anything about this situation? Were you in the garage? Did you see Michael put the substance in, or did you hear the conversation where Michael was told about it? If you think a single person can be aware of everything that is going on during speed week at Daytona with 3 brand new teams, I would like you to identify that person, because he should be our next president. I don't know if he is innocent or if he knew about it, but I do know there has to be proof of him cheating before I'm ready to denounce him. As for taking responsibility, it appears he has. Saying he should have known is an unrealistic expectation. It is certainly possible that some crew member would have juiced his fuel-remember, if the car does well, the whole team reaps the benefits, not just Michael.

I would say if the spotter thought it was clear, then Mickey may need a new spotter. Without a doubt, the spot that was clear was very small.

It's fact that Mikey and his team turned over the substance they attempted to cheat with over to NASCAR. Obviously I wasn't there, but I do believe I can state "my opinion" in that I believe Mikey knew his crew was going to use the substance. I can also express that in "my opinion" I had grown tired of watching poor, depressed, Mikey being interviewed after they got caught cheating.
